the problem here is that if it was 12.0 it’d still be even better than 12.0 phantoms than when it was 11.7 without R-73s and R-24Ms
RWR is not issue at all. Its very good RWR even for BR 12.3. But radar still scare me for that BR. Like I use mainly IR missiles but finding targets with it is pretty unreliable as it still changing radar mode.
Thats true but I think Phantoms are too high in BR. Btw I am sim player so I am talking about sim BR (I forgot to say this important detail) :D
many people consider SPO-15 vs Digital a downside, i myself don’t care because i play the MiG-29N religiously
oh yeah in sim the MiG-23MLD should be 11.7 anyways as-is, would easily be 12.3 with R-24Ms and R-73s
In sim mig-23mld is already severely undertiered, with r-73s it definitely deserves to be same br as the bison.
The radar isn’t that much of a problem imo in sim
MiG-23MLD is flat out oppressive and i’d say the same about the ML and MLA if they weren’t flown by idiots or noobs 99% of the time
Well from my side its bit skill issue because my battlefield awareness without radar is bad enough. Not to tell about my tunnel vision… :D
set up a tazer pushed against the base of your spine controlled by an AI that tazes you every 60 seconds if it detects you’ve not done a full look-around of your aircraft and surrounding area within the timeframe.
VERY quick way to force yourself to learn situational awareness.
That sounds like a plan.
Most mentally stable war thunder player.

I’m currently arguing with a redditor who’s being pedantic about how technically its not TWS, it’s some other thing that technically isn’t TWS but functions in such a way that is nearly identical to TWS for all practical concerns - but above is a link to an interview with an Indian Air Force pilot who flew the MiG-23MF and says no it was TWS, so choose who you want to believe
could you post the reddit link i want to have a good laugh, besides do you know what the TWS-ish mode is called in the manual?
No idea. Ironically enough they cited the manual to disagree with me, claiming “it’s not actually TWS, it’s Radar with IRST”. I don’t have the manual (and even if I did, I don’t speak Russian, so I wouldn’t be able to verify this), so for all I know they could be making it up. All I have is a primary source saying it had TWS, so - again. Choose who you believe. https://www.reddit.com/r/Warthunder/comments/1st5uyp/comment/oht0fap/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

there is a lot of good info on the 23ML radar here, also found that the ML+ has wrong IRST afaik its TP-23M at the moment should be TP-26Sh
just look at my post there on that forum, it has a good overview on the radar

also a link to the manual
cool, but dw i have it. i also got an English Mig-25PD manual :3
radar manual doesn’t mention anything using radar TWS, its as transrat said, radar+irst.
You’re not gonna get range information for targets other than the one you lock so calling it tws is a bit much.
you shold look into the nob thing on the flightstick that is used to guide Kh-23M,s. afaik it can be used to -contol the seekerhead- on atleast R-60M after what i found
so like… radar scans and irst tracks or the other way around?
