There is a Southeast Asian server, only accessible by players in Southeast Asia. You can use a VPN to access this server, but would that be against the rules?
The express purpose of playing on those servers would be more relaxed matches (8v8 as opposed to 16v16) due to the lower player numbers. Would that be allowed by Gaijin? (Given that VPN usage is legal in the player country).

That’s not how it works. You’ll more likely sit in queue until 16v16 is ready to go.
My auto servers select SA ane NA. I cant recall the last time I was in an SA server.

Other than the extra lag vs just getting an australian friend its not all that worth it.
SA server players are incredible for how bad they are, the cracked chinese players that fill EU and NA servers are not present on SA at all, so there is strong sealclubbing potential. That sealclubbing isnt worth the painful lag vs just playing NA servers as they are also bad

And yes—the latency there is terrible, with ping times of 500–900 ms and up to 40% packet loss
SEA here we play farm silver lion on EU and NA cause their much easier to defeat then SA server
we we dont care actually abaout ping we just play even ping is abaove 200
EU 180-210 ping
NA 230 + ping
and we do well less complained

Well, it is like 60ping 60% of the time and 450ping the rest of the time. Plus constant 20% PL.
You would think SA would be better for me in Japan.
You can use VPN if you use it to get a better connection to the servers.
