So you want to remove them from sims?
Did i even say that, if you would please quote where i said those exact words. Otherwise i ask you dont try to take my words out of context.
Well neutral =/= they were allies. Neutral is neutral. If thats your reason you want them removed from sims. But thats silly and unreasonable.
Only solid reason to choose their side in simulators is their subtree that actually fought in ww2. And that chooses Axis side.
Again you’re interpreting my comment as me wanting them removed which its not
Both should be Axis. Sweden kept pleasing Germany most of the time while Finland… well, you know what happens there.
Sweden also supplied Finish fight aggainst soviets.
Yes, Sweden was shitting itself at a possible Soviet advance through Scandinavia, so although its position during the Winter War was neutral, they supplied weapons and volunteers to Finland.
Edit: Sweden was non-belligerant, different from neutral.
Well there is no other way to interpret them.
If you say Sweden should in your opinion out value any form of Finish presence in ww2 “Because they are the main tree and finland is just subtree” then you want them to be removed from sims because Sweden alone has not enough reason to be Axis even less so Allies in ww2 era.
Unless you are trying to say gaijin is not going to do anything about it. “because gaijin is lazy” or something which is no a reason not to do anything about it. So dont talk about it unless you have an actuall reason.
I am stating my own reason for why gaijin hasn’t changed them, i believe that because Sweden is the main tree and Finland is a subtree that is why they haven’t been put on Axis. I never said whether they should or shouldn’t, i simply explained what i believe is gaijins reason.
They should probably go with germany, but it will be kinda weird
Well “probably” … there are literally finish tanks fighting finish tank rn. Since there are finish tanks in german tree and swedish tree. Current state is just absurd.
There was also the Swedish SS, Sweden traded with Germany, Norway also had SS soldiers (occupied or not, they still had soldiers that willingly conscripted).
The situation is so confusing lol, but i dont complain, i like the current state since you can test alternative history
Very true. Even tho Norway has no ww2 era stuff in game to my knowlage it is present laiter in the tree. Which means the swedish tree is more like Scandinavian tree - which in ww2 was under axis control and influence or was allied to axis in finnish case or neutrally helping axis and Finland aggainst soviets in swedish case.
Well ww2 era should not be “alternative history” like cold war era “what if they fought”. Side should be as they were in ww2.
Especially with how Sweden’s military stuff is just “Sweden and Germany did a group project”, which is how Sweden got a jet engine, swept wing design was founded by German and Swedish designers, and their tanks was just German stuff but Nordic.
There was no Swedish SS division, not sure where you get that from. And it’s not exactly strange that Sweden traded with Germany considering that she was entirely surrounded by occupied territories and subjected to a partial blockade. Germany was effectively in full control of Swedish trade.
If you read the history and memoirs of Swedish politicians and the people in general who lived through those times it becomes clear that there was no love lost between Nazi Germany and Sweden.
Edit: BTW, the closest Sweden ever got to joining the war was on the side of the allies towards the very end, because there were a lot of German troops still occupying Norway and nobody was sure if they’d actually surrender. The plan was for the Swedish army force the issue, but the war finally ended before the it became necessary.
You’re right, I was thinking Estonian and Norwegian SS
I am unsure about how many Swedish fought directly in german army. If I remember correctly germans were not allowed to recruit there so man that would want to join would need to travel out of Sweden some sources say around few hundred or low tousands joined.
-Some swedish officers in SS ^
There were however quite a few Swedish volunteers around 10-20 k that directly fought for Finland aggainst Soviets in ww2 which again suports the change of sides in sim battles. Last thing Sweden would ever do is fight alongside soviets. They were not biggest fans of Germans too but not at scale with soviets. Whole scandinavia was aggainst soviets no matter their relationship with germany.
-Commander of Swedish forces in Finland on the right - general Ernst Linder ^
C.a 200 Swedes fought for Germany. Way, way fewer than the allies, that number in the thousands.
One of the main reasons for Sweden intervening in Norway would be to keep the Soviets out.
