VK 45.02(P) - Electric Königstiger

That list is nice, all of VK projects are very interesting. I would love to see more of those that were built and also ones that were almost built.

Vorne or Hinten, I would just love to see this tank in game. Never expected it’d be possible, but if hulls were indeed constructed (and let’s be honest, I doubt the Germans would lie about such things as military material production during such a critical period as WW2), then that would be enough to pass Gaijin’s standards on “realness”.

3 on turrets alone.

  • schmale Blendenausführung
  • Schmale Blende
  • Panther G turret (could be a US premium because they did it)

I wholeheartedly disagree with this sentiment. For one, the historical accuracy (though not perfectly intact) is actually an attractive face for many of the WoT players we see converting over to WT. Beyond that, I would like to point out that there is still far from a lack of historical vehicles yet to be added to the game. We still don’t even have the Stug. IV in the game lmao

To clarify for the several people that have asked (I am sorry for my lack of responses!) but the hulls produced for the VK 45.02(P) were most likely for the forward mounted turret design. All surviving in depth blueprints are for such a design, the VK 45.01(P) basis (both the basis for the original design and the source of the drivetrain) had a forward mounted turret, Hilary Doyle and Thomas Jentz (some of the most forefront historians on German armor) almost rarely mention the rear mounted turret variant, even the driver vision ports that had caused so much trouble would not be mounted on the rear mounted turret variant as it used a driver periscope instead. If anyone has any evidence that the rear mounted turret variant had hulls produced I would be impressed (and please do share!), but until then I am fairly convinced that the rear mounted turret was never more than a conceptual design.

Do we know how the cited sources came across that documentation of proof that said hulls were made? If we could get photographs of those documents ourselves we might be able to more accurately determine which version was constructed.

Given the recent success that some users on this forum have had in proofing that the T-34-88 actually existed, I think/hope that might be possible.

If I remember correctly there was an actual document number mentioned but I do not have the sources with me so I cannot find it. Will get that number asap!

If you merely want any contract documents though, Jentz and Doyle state that the actual production contract was SS 210-5805/41.

Edit! Unfortunately, Panzer Tracts No. 20-1 does not mention any document numbers either. However, it does state that Wa Pruef 6 “issued new contracts to Krupp for three operational turrets and three armor hulls for Pz.Kpfw.Tiger P2 in January 1943”, so that would likely be the best location to start searching. (It also means some of my dates are wrong as Porsche did not report completion of the hulls I mention until February 1943).

I would love to see this. Would make a great event vehicle. We have enough information to make it possible in game even though it didnt reach prototype stage. I really hope this comes to the game one day.
