They where sort of at there limit for there original job. You don’t go strapping something to a bunker if you really care about it. Your getting the most out of something as you did invest time and resources into its construction / ammo.
You where not hoping to fight t-34 or Sherman with it but infantry and light vehicles. It’s use is more secondary freeing up men for weapons that could more effectively fight the mainstay.
Overall I stated making the 37mm more relevant then what it was doing before. Doing more with less or moving on from scraping the barrel to scrapping the barrel.
