Before submitting a suggestion to change this in the game, I’d like to ask the community first: is the vignetting around the M1A2 Abrams’ panoramic sight an intentional feature, or is it a leftover bug from older tank sight models?
After all, the Abrams is well known for its excellent panoramic sight and outstanding visibility, so the current vignette seems rather odd.

Below is a frame from a real M1A2 Abrams. As you can see, there is no vignetting around the edges of the sight.

I would assume it’s just a left over from when the game was just WW2/ early cold war and tank sights where basically just telescopes. They have just never bothered to update it for modern tanks that use cameras and digital displays.

The vignette is something that all sight systems has, in case you haven’t noticed by this point of obtaining a modern vehicle—I.e. top tier vehicle, there are no differences in between sight systems except their zoom values.
Oh my God, Russian bias uncovered again. Or not. That’s because T-80BVM’s and T-90M’s gunner sight is set at minimum 4.0x (more zoomed in), compared to the M1A2 Abrams in 3.0x (more zoomed out), so in the Abrams the vignette will feel larger, or more visible or taking too much space.

That’s just from the zoom, Abrams has 2x to 10x T-90M has 4x to 12x.
It’s the same with the Type 10 with its 4x optics, it’s just how Gaijin tries to represent magnification:
TBF russian sights irl are pretty trash so the moment realistic sights come nato will have a huge advantage.
even old M1A1 sights were better.
the gunners eyeballs have a vignette /s

That’s because War Thunder is not a simulator, a lot of things are guessed or not worked because it won’t make any change in the game other than visual stuff. Being a realistic (“realistic”) game ≠ simulator game, games like Steel Beasts and Gunner, HEAT, PC! will provide a more accurate experience.

Im aware, im just saying the whole idea of artificially buffing Russian tanks is very real, im not saying “russian bias” but they are pretty hand held in relation to other nations. For example, the leopards losing rear turret depression, was it necessary, most likely not yet they did it anyway.
And I’m hoping on patience for a game like War Thunder except if you remove all the issues introduced by Gaijin, which I doubt that will happen. But regardless, fair enough, things like these shouldn’t been implemented and if I’m not wrong, though I don’t have the documentation for, T-90M’s thermal should either be reduced in resolution or contrast, though the only footage were from combat environment so that won’t fit in the game either.
Even US M60A3 TTS doesn’t have this
