The VEAK 40 is currently one of the weakest SPAA vehicles in the game. In addition to its overall performance, several inaccuracies and inconsistencies affect both its realism and gameplay. Below is a list of suggested changes—some buffs and some nerfs:
- Replace unhistorical ammunition with correct historical rounds:
HE-VT ammunition was removed for being unhistorical; however, other unhistorical ammunition types remain. These should also be removed and replaced with the correct historical rounds that would better reflect the vehicle’s intended anti-aircraft role. This change would likely remove SAP-HE as well, reducing its effectiveness against lightly armored ground vehicles.
The Three ammunition types listed are “HE, AP, APDS.” (Bug report)
- Remove the incorrect Ksp 58 and add the ground sight:
The VEAK 40 was never equipped with a Ksp 58 machine gun. Instead, a ground sight should be modeled in its place.
- Restrict turret traverse facing forward while driving:
Since the driver is located in the turret and there are no independent forward-facing cameras, the turret should be locked forward during movement to reflect limited visibility.
- Remove the stabilizer:
The VEAK 40 did not have a stabilizer, and this should be reflected accurately in-game.
- Correct the engine dependency mechanics:
The VEAK 40’s engine system is inaccurately modeled. While it used both a turbine and a diesel engine same as the Strv 103, they were not fully independent. The turbine could not operate without the diesel, as key systems (such as hydraulics) were powered by the diesel engine. However, the diesel could operate on its own. This should be reflected in-game, meaning the vehicle should retain limited functionality if the turbine is disabled, but not if the diesel is knocked out.

I can’t tell if you’re trying to help or kill the VEAK further with those changes

You can drive backwards in game so I don’t understand why this would be a limitation

The turret is required to be locked forwards for the driver to see where he is going. But since there is no present system in WT for this yet the changes that would actually be implimented would be:
Mechanics not in WT yet:
Maybe gaijin just needs to add some proper penetrationg munitions to this and make it a light tank-like spaa. Something that 40mm SPAAs do all rond the game. Lol.
They could probably just recycle the code they already use for certain ATGM carriers like the Khrizantema-S.

Karnitin are u seriously trying to nerf the VEAK at a time when it suffers already. Why?

Because it’s not a very good representation of the vehicle in its current state.
This post wasn’t made maliciously with the sole purpose of making the VEAK bad.
If making it more historical is a significant net loss to performance, than just lower the BR. It’s not stuck where it is regardless of changes, though admittedly, Gajin often tends to act like that is the case.

Okay reading back I phrased that abysmally. I was wondering if there would be any buffs. Cuz with these changes (-1 APHE, no stab, etc) it wouldn’t be 7.7 anymore
