HISTORY
The vehicle is by Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace being named “Utah Vehicle” but the vehicle itself is an XLT3-5 from AM General and is an light tactical vehicle. It’s a vehicle designed to be lightweight and durable, but also rugged and versatile, this vehicle was first seen at AUSA in 2019, its hard to find detailed specifications about its eigne. This combination is according to the interviews held with Kongsberg, a sort of a SOCOM variant, and this specific combination is first seen at the AUSA in October 2023. This kind of vehicle has been seen at earlier and later events, and each time with a different configuration that Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace is exhibiting/demonstration to the international market or others with interest. The vehicles and weapon stations are fully operational in the events.
The event is AUSA - “Association of the United States Army” which is a large private “Non-profit” organization which serves as the professional association of the USA Army. It was started in 1950 and has since been held one time in the autumn each year, and this event is open to everyone, even civilians.
Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace is the world leading supplier of remote stations, and they have been working on these and developing them since around 2001. The Remote Station on this vehicle is the CROWS - “Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station” and is a series of weapon stations used by the United States Army. Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace was earlier awarded a huge contract by the USA to continue building, developing and delivering this system. This specific remote station is of the 153A4 CROWS and is built by Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, and it is equipped with the Tech Refresh which is an update to the weapon system which enables it to carry the Javelin missile launcher and various other changes such as new thermal sights capabilities.
This vehicle has to my knowledge had the 153A4 CROWS integrated by Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace themselves specifically to demonstrate and exhibit it at the 2023 AUSA event to show its potential to both the USA army and other visitors present at the event. According to my research, this vehicle along with the other XLT3-5 modified by Kongsberg seems to be the only one of its kind.
We can see this vehicle is labeled “XLT3-5” on its side, but in the interview the spokesperson for Kongsberg is saying this is a SRTV-SXV-XL from BC Customs so i’ll have to assume that it is the one. stats are similar.
IN GAME
This could be a fun and unique vehicle in game, it has the ability to fight both low flying aircrafts and enemy armour, as it has the javelin launcher equipped. Its downsides would be the firepower with only one .50cal and a single 127mm javelin missile, i don’t know if it has more missiles in stowage but it is likely stored in the rear compartment of the vehicle. But i believe its great mobility and off and on road abilities would compensate for this, flank the map at full speed and capture zones, and rearm.
