USSR needs CAS at BR 12.0

USSR doesn’t currently have any CAS option at BR 12.0. Specifically something with thermal sights and IR or TV (fire and forget) missiles. We have a lot of options at BR 12.3-13.0 however the problem is if you take any of them you will be 100% guaranteed an uptirer, never getting to fight against al the premiums at 11.0-11.7. This is a problem because other nations have such CAS options creating a bit of an unbalanced in round RB battles.

I think the easiest solution for Giajin is to add the thermal pod to the SU-25T and SU-39. And increase their BR to 12.0 for ground RB. The thermal pod is even already in the files so there is no real reason I can see not to add it.

(thermal pod is the last photo)

SU-27 and SU-33 are both 12.0 in ground RB so they do have options, perhaps not good ones but still.

For such additions you have to show that they vehicle used that equipment IRL and then you can make a suggestion for that addition.

its already been sent some time ago as a bug report with evidence. Using dumb bombs and rockets at top tier is pretty much a death sentence. Also my post was very specific about having thermal sights and IR / TV guided weapons.

Su-25T/TM are not battle rating 12.0 material, playing with this flying coffin is already a pain and dealing with top dogs anti-air system is more difficult.

I think there is only 3 jets in the game that are BR 12.0 and have access to IR Ground missiles, and only two of those also have a IR pod, those two are the harriers for US and Britain (i might be forgetting some if there are more, feel free to correct me). There are only a few more jets that have a IR pod but has TV guided munitions instead of IR. TV guided don’t really benefit much from getting a POD, at most you can spot targets easier but at 12.0 it’s going to be a big ask to get close enough to lock TV guided munitions in the first place.

Su-24M, use it.

The Belgian F16A gets jdams at 12.0, no tracking but still good platform for cas (i imagine gnss bombs are good against the multi-vehicle SAMs since its hard to keep them moving and a scout drone can prolly find them easily)

What does JDAMS have to do with IR/TV guided munitions and targeting pods (the Belgian f-16 doesn’t have a targeting pod either if i remember correctly)?

That doesn’t have a targeting pod?

Sure, the Su-25T and Su-39 would have received serious upgrades that would bring them closer to NATO aircraft, but the developers don’t care. Because the plane hasn’t earned enough money to improve it.

my bad

It might be worth bringing the Su-24M. It’s quite good at CAS for its BR.
Though the best solution would probably be the Su-24M2 which Gaijin has decided should be just a modification to the 24M and only amount to a single GLONASS bomb, instead of the substantial upgrade program that it really was.

Integral targeting pod.
It also has GPS munitions for safer [while a bit less effective] CAS runs.

This would be awful, these things kinda suffer already at 11.3, thermal pod is not gonna be worth uptiering these to 12.0, would be just objectively worse than the su24m there, and the choice between the 2 at 11.3 is already kinda in favor of the su24 there too.

At least these things are fun to fly in a downtier at 11.3, at 12.0 they would just be cooked.

You do have great CAP options at 12.0 with the su33/27 and for CAS while its not great you have the 2 12.0 helis as an option. Which at least will fare better than an su25 with 8km max range agms at that br lol. And you will actually have a snowballs chance in hell against planes, GL dealing with fox3 carriers you will see every match at 12.0 in a subsonic.

I don’t think I’ve seen a single 12.7 su25 ever since the su34 came out, and probably for good reason. And at 12.0 you are basically in the same MM as that one.

A lot of 11.0 - 12.0 (even some higher cas) aren’t usable anymore because of the nature of these new missiles, specifically the IRIS-T. Unless you have the KH-38, you cannot use your agms in far ranges because it’ll easily be shot down.

You are essentially forced into sticking to the ground but you also have to pray that you aren’t spotted first because as soon as an IRIS-T is launched, you cannot hide from it because of it’s flight path.

GPS munitions like hardly work anymore because of it’s high risk.

Ultimately CAS is heavily dependent on ht e

On one hand it sucks to be a CAS player at this br, but on the other, ground battles seem are lot more bearable in top tier.
