USS Maryland BB-46 was just spotted on Gszabi’s newest leak list, so it’s a very good certainty to be coming soon. I really hope so. US needs some 16" guns up in this joint. Curious if this means decompression is coming or another 7.0 BB. Comparative to the Tennessee, Maryland seems like a step up. 7.3 maybe?
Unless they buff the rate of fire to 2rpm only for the Colorado class and not any of the preceding battleships I expect Tennessee to be better. Assuming nothing changes from live to the update hypothetical Maryland will output 12 16” shells every minute with worse dispersion than Tennessee’s 18 14” assuming both have ace crews. Naval typically favors more accurate and faster firing weapons due to the crew modules acting as health, the Japanese 16” guns are only so good because they have both size and volume of fire in their side as they output more than any 15” and most if not all non Japanese 14” ships. The magazines will also be overall more vulnerable as Tennessee’s higher bulge plating and fuel storage outside the belt serve to fuse and slow many shells, often detonating them before they reach the magazine. Maryland would more closely resemble Nevada or possibly Mississippi in terms of survivability. I will still grind Maryland but don’t expect the top tier meta to change at all unless they action the bug report of mine they accepted on US battleship reloads back in October. However I would still expect Tennessee to be better if that were the case as at a 2 or 2.2rpm Tennessee would output 24 or 26 shells/minute vs Maryland’s slightly under 16 at 1.98rpm.
