USS Fletcher VS USS Phelps, is there any reason make Phelps have to be 5.0?

As we know, Fletcher and Phelps have 5* 5-inch guns, and there is almost no difference between their crews and armor, which makes Phelps still at 5.0? Even Frank Knox is still at 5.0 as well? I don’t think Phelps or Fletcher are able to against crusiers at 5.0, making DDs to over 5.0 is the craziest thing for Naval

Probably because Phelps has much better AA with 8 x 40mm Bofors as opposed to just 2 on the Fletcher.

Most of the cruisers also moved up a BR level or 2 - so DD’s being 5.3 hasn’t made any difference at all to which cruisers they can see.

The Bofors doesn’t matter. We do have Cowell, which has 10 Bofors. I believe Gaijin is almost forgotten it.

Not most. There are tons of 5.0-5.3 cruisers that haven’t moved up, even though there are some cruisers now are still 4.7. Consider DDs now all suffer from HE damage buff. There is almost no way to play them.

Just quickly quit from an uptier game. Now, all DDs over 5.0 can see some battleships, we are back to the New power version.

You wanted 2 ships compared - I did that - bringing a 3rd one is is dishonest.

The Cruisers that didn’t move didn’t move because they are not very good.

Utter hyperbolic nonsense

the lowest BB was 6.0 so the 5.0 DD’s could already see them.

Skill issue, and I’m sorry I wasted my time trying to answer your question - won’t happen again.

You don’t even know Cowell and Fletcher are the same class.

Those DDs are not very good as well.

For those who only has KD1 players, yes.

I almost forgot that you never play naval RB., I like your confidence, but it’s a bit over the top.

Usa ships under 6.0 in general are underpowerd

I genuinely believe the BR of the Phelps is due to legacy balancing and a data feedback loop. Back in the day, the Phelps was so astronomically rare, that not a lot of data was generated from battles with it. That means, if even a small group of naval experts went ham with it enough times, it could potentially skew the data Gaijin looked at to see if it fit the BR.

Then once it went on the market in greater number, the only people buying and playing it are more likely to know how to play naval in the first place, making the stats look better, so Gaijin just raises the BR and forgets about it. Deserved or not, I suspect something similar happened with my beloved K-8 event vehicle.
