USS Colorado: Ocean Bastion!

Just one from a big list of issues. Compression, Pr.206-like insta killers, M-802/Peacock-like unkillable, SKR-7-like unbalanced, …

It is easier to count what has no issues: maybe general movement.

Pretty much everything until the north carolina was built with the same principles in mind so them looking similar makes sense

This ship is still horror. Gajin just refuses to up its BR or to nerf the DM.

3 major factors here though

  1. Bismarks guns and fire control were designed for shooting down much faster aircraft, the slow speed and low speed handling meant the swordfish were hard to hit

  2. any HE shells that hit and should have one shot the swordfish, went straight through and did no damage

  3. the Swordfish could take a huge amount of damage, some were reported to have taken nearly 100 hits but kept going and managed to survive.

It isn’t guranteed that any other ship would have faired much better than Bismark did, Whilst there were swordfish losses, look at what damage they did to the Italians at Toranto.

So Bismark’s AAA was decent, but prepared for modern threats. But by the looks of the Colorado, its probably weaker in the AAA

Yes, I know. Just wish it would be easier to identify them. But anyways, just shot at the B barbette and watch it going boom.

you forget the us have he vt rounds

If the Colarado gets them in game. Most British top tier ships should have them but its been denied for “reasons”

and whether HE-VT would have been useful against a sea-skimming swordfish is a debate as well. Might have been too low

I would be fine with the 0.7 rounds per minute if it weren’t for the artificial explodium shell rooms on the barbettes… :’( - please, now that we are getting more structure and buoyancy-based ways of sinking ships, the atomic shell rooms need to finally go! These make all American BBs incredibly susceptible to just blowing up whenever their turrets/barbettes are hit once, which is just not fun :/

I’ve read the AA crews had insufficient training as well.

That, if it doesn’t blow up because some stray shell hit a barbettes shell room…

First i’ve heard about that, but its possible.

If not lack of training, lack of actual experience might been a bigger issue

At least hopefully most of the shells wont miss when you fire at something as well

Well SKR-7 today is borderline unplayable due to the way the guns work.
Back when HE worked and it was just a destroyer with a faster rate of fire, yeah it was OP cause it was like 4.7 equivalent at 4.0 and later 4.3.
The gun nerfs and HE nerfs make it like… maybe 4.0. I haven’t seen an SKR-7 score a single frag on anything more than a PT boat in the last week of constantly playing naval.
And I tried doing the same and just go instantly destroyed by a Moffet cause their fire rate was superior and SAP is genuinely just better than HE.

The way HE is modeled right now to prevent BBs from dying too quickly is just hurtful for coastal vessels as a whole.

I read they were working on BB accuracy- funnily enough, some players opposed accuracy fixed because “it would make the game faster paced”…

I hope they fix it. Firing 1 salvo every 120 seconds only for it to fall on a 300m radius instead of where you were aiming at even at point blank isn’t peak xD

The configuration likely predates the widespread introduction of that ammunition plus having 2 types of 5 inch itll probably be time fuse and nothing else

I dont know about precise changes for everything

but for Hood and other British 15"

So will be more Accurate than Alaska but not quite as accurate as Scharnhorst

But yeah, they have, calling it a “skill issue” when shells miss where you aimed them and saying that guns were inaccurate IRL and should be modeled that way. Its really funny watching them panic over the good guns actually being close to their IRL accuracy :D

Yeah, I know that pain.

Exactly. People are under the misconception that guns were inaccurate… THEY WERE NOT! Not as much as they are ingame.

Inaccuracy was a result of imprecise firing solutions due to FCS and other real life factors NOT associated with shells somehow coming out of barrels as if these were twisted and misaligned.

With precise firing solutions, accuracy was practically surgical.

Yep, Hood should have somewhere in the region of half the shell spread at 28km IRL than she currently has a 10km in game

Anything but J-11B devblog huh?

Nah, 8.0. Even if the Scharn is the only one at 8.0 lol. All the other BB’s could be lower imo. (Or put the Scharn at 9.0 and the rest of the BB’s at 8.0-8.7) The Scharn just absolutely ruins matches. Now and for the last YEARS.

If a new top is made at 8.0, all BB’s need to be at least 7.3+ so that the current heavy cruisers at 6.0/6.3 have a chance to be used. I cannot use my heavy cruisers at 6.0/6.3 when 90%+ of the matches are full uptiers to 7.0, and almost always with a Scharn on the other side.
