As it stands now, the convoy maps are the least terrible ones. The AI convoy ships toast every under BRed boat which tries to rat the match. Its usually decided by capital ship players.
The big circle maps are also at least viable. But forcing everyone in one big circle to duke it out lacks creativity. Flanking tours like on convoy maps are not an option. Also this gamemode is always won by the bigger team. If one team member is annoyed and leaves, it dunks everyone. The match is auto-lost.
Three cap matches are a no go. Boats snatching the caps and match bar blinks down before major action happens. See post #1.
Yeah, agreed!
Problem with encounter is, yet again, map spawns imo. If you are a bit unlucky once you spawn in and are focused you are basically screwed…
Smart players that wait targets the biggest threats when they spawn, so thats not really any argument at all against being screwed if you get focused by more enemies!
Besides, its not like you spawn far behind everyone else when forced to spawn either.
Nor does it change the fact that spawns are way too open and too close! African Gulf is the worst offender!
Guess its personal preference, if you enjoy close spawns, good for you! I find them crappy as hell!
The problem with the big circle maps is that in the current meta ~70% of players on each team are bots, and for some reason some bots simply refuse to enter the cap. So matches are decides by whoever side’s bots feel like completing the objective.
'smart players ’ that spawn late are ah players selfish and not team players … sink them first if opposition
same for players that only play op vessels
I charged as fast as I could to the cap for nothing, it was a complete and utter waste of time for everyone on both teams since sub 10 minute matches gives no RP and you’ve got no time to whittle BBs down.
No one won in this match.
Sadly this issue is still not adressed. Small boats still ruin these kind of 3 cap matches. It seems Gajin expects us to sink our capital ships to quickly respawn boats ourselves?!!?
No, it’s the trademark idiotic game design that ruins those matches.
TBH, having different types of vehicle that can all contribute is a refreshing change from standard WT mash-spacebar-in-biggest-vehicle FTW mentality. I usually have the option of a fast coastal vessel, but even though I often take that option, I don’t want games ending in 10 mins. No immersion, no rewards, no real game, no fun.
i am not sure that pointing out how thoughtless and game killing the stupid ideas and naval coding in general of gaig is allowed
we have to find a way that is acceptable to get the message across that their lack of ideas and planing are making what should be the best part of wt into a sub average situation
what language can we use to inform them that doing dumb things the dumb way is not conducive to good gaming ?
Situation as the match ended. My team won the capital ship battle and took A. But because one guy in a PR206 took B and C their team won. Top quality game design.
You will note that I did try to take those points at the start of the match. But lasted about 3 seconds once the PR206 spotted me. I shouldn’t have even bothered and should have just farmed as much rp and sl as I could in Barham.
That seems more an issue of only Germany, Italy and USSR having the coastal gunboats with the meta weapons(40/70 Bofors and AK-230 guns) and all the other nations are still stuck with the 40/60 Bofors with obsolete dpm against those guns, would be good if gaijin ever adresses that issue
Blue Water and Coastal gameplay is not really compatible on these maps. Sometimes you can’t even access the boat capture points, cause you cruiser or BB runs aground.
In this case some of the capital ship players would have needed to sink their own BB to respawn a boat. But seriously, who is doing this? Almost no one, I guess. So the match blinks down… its stupid game design.
In Game Mode select, you have this like/dislike button in the Mode banner. This system helps you play desired maps more often and avoid some scenarios.
There are 49 scenarios in the game. Those are on/off for a given BR range, so if you play BR 7 - it is easy to filter some out.
We have 4 modes of the game - Battle, Conquest, Domination, Encounter.
“Battle” can be played only on BR range from 1.0 to 3.0, so we can remove those 5 scenarios from the equation.
There are 33 “Domination” scenarios but only 7 of them can be played on BR 7 (they have BR3+, BR4+, and BR5+ without the ceiling.)
You can DISLIKE 3 out of those 7 scenarios and play on them less frequently. If you have a premium account, you can fully BAN one map from the pool.
After that, there are 5 Encounter ( no cap) scenarios and 6 conquest maps (One cap) - you can like three of them to play them more often.
So, in total: There are 18 scenarios you can play on that BR and only 7 of them are “bad”. You can improve or decrease the occurrence rate of given scenarios by using some math. Out of 18 maps, if we double the occurrence of liked maps and half the occurrence of disliked maps - you have a 38% chance to play on a “BAD” map without marking your liked and not liked maps, and only 25% if you DO mark proper scenarios for yourself.
So from “Almost half the time” you are changing it to “One out of four”
