Sometimes the gunshield can be a bit of a nuisance for smaller calibers, such as 8mm Mauser, but in situations where they’re hidden around a corner or barely poking a track out, HE does the job universally. You can shoot them about anywhere as long as they’re open-topped.

Well 8mm guns (most imho) can’t pen the gunshield. Just to put it right. Its also a mather who shots first and how long do you need to load HE. While the simply spray everyting in an instant.
The crew is not hidden completely behind the gunshield. If you aim to the side, you are still able to cripple the duster’s gunner.
With the reload buffs most tanks around this BR just got, I don’t see how reloading an HE shell should be a problem. Dusters are loud vehicles that fire Bofors into the sky and should be heard from long before they arrive.
I get that some tanks can be penetrated frontally by a Duster, but how are you letting one get that close to you in the first place if you’re playing a Panzer IV, for instance? How would a Duster be any worse than a T-34 or M4 in that situation?
I know Gajin stacked the whole game with these gems at rather low BRs (not Ger abviously). But there are always FOTMs. Community shifts here and there. Now its the US ones which get abused as tank hunters. Ru has a ZSU-37 version with uneblievavle 84mm pen at 3.3 (ofc they do lol, Ru). Its hopeless to play med tanks at
some BR ranges, it even pens the main plate of latest Panzer IV.
There should be probably more community talk about this. What point do common tanks with single shot main guns have, as long as there are autogun vehicles doing everything better for a fraction of spawn points.
M42 is Vietnam era, actually if it’s hitting tanks that’s historically accurate

This does happen, but not with the M19/M42, those are at best mediocre at their current BRs because they are open topped.
Don’t bring up the Kugelblitz, because it’s 1. Significantly better and 2. Overtiered slightly at 6.7.

Out of all SPAA to moan about around those BR, you pick the M19/M42, lol.
HVAP ammo is iffy at the best of time, eitherway. It’s why the M53/M59 is meh a lot of the time.
Flakpanzer is 7.0, so no - none of these gun SPAA should be anywhere near 6.7. Kugel could even go down to 6.3, although it does have a good rate of fire. But unlike the Flakpanzer, it needs to reload clips.
