Do you ever use any round other than M107 HE? Why?
This is my favorite moneymaker tank. I got it from the event for it a few years back. I don’t remember doing that, but I sure as hell didn’t pay for it from the market and Gaijin has told me it was never a GE premium.
I would get the T29 if it weren’t a pack only vehicle. But until then, I do well enough with the T30. I find the HE is consistent enough so long as I hit cupulas and roofs.
It’s kinda unique because it’s one of the only vehicles that resembles an artillery platform that has actual armor and good gun depression, play it entirely hull down and you are set. But given the same situation the T29 and T34 will outperform it in terms of DPM, nothing more painful than watching a target drove pass and you are not ready to punch lol
I unlocked it in its event way back. It used to have insane angled penetration being able to go through the ufp of t-44s and 54s at close range, then Gaijin changed the penetration of all vehicles to be based on a formula and it nerfed it hard, ever since i rarely use it, there is simply no point to play an HE singer with such a slow reload.
Its fun but your dead the second your caught alone with more than 1 enemy, The reload makes it a little painful to use since your spending most of the match loading the gun, And its pretty easy to hit its barrel to break it since its big.
Its one of those tanks thats more suited for being a support vehicle rather than being on the front line fighting.
One thing people don’t expect is how it can kill tanks though the floor by shooting the ground below them probably because they are expecting it to be the T34 with solid shot, I killed many Tiger 2’s who think they can try baiting a shot by corner scraping their hulls.
I play it occasionally when I feel like hitting someone with a huge hammer,
I use the M107 HE mostly now, but back on release the second APHE shell had Russian APHE slope modifiers so it would lolpen things it shouldn’t have (IS-6 front plate became butter lmao) and that was originally my primary choice for ammo.
