US 90mm needs a buff. Not only does it have the ability to penetrate nothing at higher tiers, but it’s reload speed is also abysmal. I have no doubts in my mind that a real life experienced crew can reload much faster, by 25% or 50%. It also needs a slight penetration buff, as at higher tiers they are practically useless.
which 90mm cannons are we talking about?
You have good stats with the tanks that use 90mm guns…
The 90mm has great oneshot potential and pretty good pen as well… They do not need a buff.
They definitely need a buff in higher tiers. Particularly the M47 and M48. They have bad penetrating and reload value at the tier, specifically against heavies. They also lack the ability to quickly flank.
The ones that go on the T26E5, T25, M26, M46, M47, and M48.
The US Short 90mm does not need a buff. The M47 and M48 both have HEAT, so they’re fine. As for the M26, that’s an M26 problem, it’s overtiered.
Most Solid AP got nerf in penetration due to Shell formula that Gaijin use. And they refuse to modified it to fix AP shell.
APCR are also underwhelming compare to APHE damage. And with “shatter” machanic modified to them. Even though irl APHE would also “shatter” just as much as APCR or AP shell. And in APHE case sometime it wouldn’t explode due to unreliable fuse or fuse got damage while the shell hit the armor.
I do think the br of the m26 and t25 is way too high, and the 90mm penetration especially on the t33 shell is way under-performing as seen by many historical records showing the t33 being able to blast right through a panther at up to 1000m, the shell was especially made to make the 90mm more powerful yet it performs worse than the standard aphe.
But as long as gaijin doesn’t fix their shitty pen formulas or goes back to using historical sources nothing will be changed im afraid
It can’t frontpen Panthers, when it could easily do so at long distances irl. It needs a buff.
Neither of them have APDS. I think that’s the M60 you’re referring to. HEATFS has inconsistent pen, and post-pen damage so it’s quite bad.
One time I ricocheted a panther’s front plate with T41 (in a T32E1) point blank, no angle. I went to the shot replay, it said the panther died. I didn’t feed the snail I guess??
I never found too much of a problem with the T25 and M26. My problem is with the M46, M47, and M48. The M46 has bad armor at its tier and HEAT cages do practically nothing, or little. M47 and M48 lack good reload speeds, so flanking is obsolete and sometimes you miss shots that could’ve given you a kill if the reload was any faster.
That’s because the Panther’s armor is kinda BS, extremely trolly.
Yeah. But the turret is it’s kryptonite. Also, a weakspot shared with king tigers, jagdtigers, jagdpanthers, panthers, it’s the turret ball. Shoot in the centre, not on the ball, the square, you’ll kill them. But it’s not the most consistent.
are we thinking of the same canons here? the US 90mm canons are really good
They get a bit lackluster on Pattons but otherwise solid guns at WW2 BR’s
you get that with all guns at they reach their later carriers, like the 17pdr is a supergun which will end the career of any tank from 2.7 until 5.3 perfectly with its APCBC and sabot shot but starts to reach its wits end against tiger 2 and the IS3.
yeah, but when 3 US medium tanks in the same BR range all rely on a gun with its capabilities stretched to the limit it is an issue
short 90 is fine, long 90 tho… Long 90s need a reload speed buff, at 7.7 the gun is abysmal
I havent had any problems when playing the M47
