Updated Nuclear Escalation: Vietnam!

They probably buffed red convoys to two shilkas because of mavericks.

I am not happy about depot defenses getting missiles. Rest in peace for going high and using gravity bombs on them

I might be wrong, but my memory found that depots generally gave a lot less points than vehicles so its not like it was even a big deal

Also returning missiles makes it a lot harder to penetrate front lines. Everyones gonna do side runs on the beach or mountain runs again

Would be nice if one of devs briefly changed brs to 8.7-10.0 and 10.3-11.0. So flareless things dont face certain all aspect 30g missiles which were never used in vietnam yet are allowed in this vietnam themed event

I don’t think feedback should be silenced, I think just people are disagreeing with it.

I think for example SAMs and air defense being so oppressive over the frontline is realistic/semi-realistic with how a modern war between two powerful nations would play out, the frontline should be a no-mans land between two technologically advanced armies that make engaging each other extremely difficulty to do. I don’t think “SPAAs shooting down missiles because they’re so accurate aimbot-y” is a part of it and stuff like that, but having a proper gamemode that is not just PVP but also actually fun with the PVE too and the ground units are properly everywhere and engageable and they are actually a threat back is a big improvement over just playing Air RB which is extremely repetitive and air to air based only and rarely does anything else actually participate to the victory of the game and stuff.

Basically this feels like a proper battle, not an artificially fabricated arena for just jets to duke it out in a sterile environment.

I prefer it because of the planes, I don’t enjoy ARH stuff. The older, the better.

I agree that AAA should be present, and this is a nice feature of nuclear escalation, and I agree that there should be some PVE to go with the PVP, but I think the previous iterations had a better balance of these considerations. In the current iteration, air combat is so impossible that when an enemy fighter attacks me, it is simply best to ignore him until he gets shot down by my friendly AAA, even if I’m over enemy airspace.

Surely fighters should have the capability to defend their own airspace from attackers? if our AAA is so good at shooting down enemy munitions, they should be able to at least shoot down the munitions that are aimed at our airplanes in our airspace.

Especially when you factor in that I can easily fly to the enemy airfield in my fighter and attack people who just took off, it feels like the very first iteration when you just spawn the same plane over and over again, go get 1-2 kills, and respawn. like the SPAA is extremely competent at preventing dogfights, but can’t prevent me from killing enemies right off their runway. It’s not a very fun balance.

To clarify:

AAA/SPAA are extremely good at shooting down manuevering aircraft, but are useless at shooting down aircraft that fly straight and fast. I think SPAA/AAA should be better at defending their airspace, and worse at attacking enemy airspaces.

On the flip side, the majority of 10.0s are/would be extremely strong against anything lower, and it wouldn’t make it a fair fight.

The SAM spam was the main thing I disliked about the higher Br brackets as it led to ground hugging and forcing people into using specific aircraft in order to even do ground attack roles.

Yes, but there is a balance between what the first Vietnam iteration was like (where they didn’t do much) vs the higher BR tests (where they forced lawnmowing and made the game way less fun IMO). Buffing SAMs in the lower brackets will not make for an enjoyable gamemode.

Also, can we please grind events through this mode? It’s ridiculous to have it up at the same time as a FOMO event, forcing players to choose to be beta testers or get a unique aircraft.

BR10.0-11.0 is a terrible idea. Some aircraft such as the MIG21BIS and MIG23M have been reduced from 11.3 to 11.0. They possess some of the capabilities of 11.3, but have difficulty surviving when facing aircraft in the range of 11.7 to 12.3. When the BR is limited to 10.0-11.0, these aircraft that originally had 11.3 capabilities will far outperform other aircraft of lower levels. A typical example is that these aircraft possess the capability to engage in head-on combat, while other fighter jets do not have this capability at all. I believe that all aircraft equipped with All-aspects IR AAM should be removed from this current battle.

Said “anything lower” would have much more chance to kill 10.0 than any higher bracket aircraft vs mig25

yea I wont be playing this snail I’ve gotta lock in for XL

How are MiG-21bis and MiG-23M 11.3 level planes?

Why should All-Aspect IR AAMs be banned from 10.0-11.0?

It’s easier to kill (or atleast not die to) a Mig-25 in a F-5E/F-5C than it is to not die to a Mirage III C, Hunter F.58, F-1, J35D or Ayit in a flareless 9.3/9.7 aircraft.

Also, why not just disallow the Mig-25 like the Mig-27s are?
Edit: the Mig-25 could probably be 11.3 in RB as well.

27’s are likely banned simply because of kh-31s

Even in the test before vietnam, but after they changed radar behavior, it was probably overperforming any other arm.

when I saw this coming back I was hoping it would be event grindable getting 10k+ mission points on a good game giving people the chance to try this out but gajin had to kill the chance to do that atleast read your own schedule please never overlap an event with nuke escalation again

21bis only had R-60M that can be flared easily (yes compensated by R-13M1 but you get to carry less), 23M well yes but handicapped by CM amount and suboptimal SARH (and nerfed FM from a year or two ago), even MiG-21bis counterpart F-5E is also 11.0 with just 2 missiles

the only OP plane that could be think of here is MiG-25 with how long range their R-40TD missile able to reach and can just ignore your missile if you’re launching it in slow speed

A few years ago, all these aircraft were of the BR11.3. At that time, R60M was added to them. However, in the subsequent several updates, they were reduced from 11.3 to 11.0. Because they are difficult to engage in combat with more advanced aircraft. If this were the case in the ARB, it would be reasonable, as they would still encounter enemies ranging from 11.3 to 12.0. However, in the NT system, this is highly unreasonable because they will never encounter any aircraft that can suppress them.

A few years ago, great

Neither the MiG-21bis, nor the MiG-23M are particularly strong in NT compared to other 11.0s, I would even go so far as to call them inferior to a lot of aircraft available at that BR range.

The MIG21BIS only has R60M, while the F5E only has AIM9J. Do you think that the R60M and AIM9J are of the same level of weaponry?

Essentially premium spam’s fault. Particularily the f4s

Interesting side note: the F-5A(G) (event swedish plane) has 2x aim-9L and is at 11.0

Are you suggesting the AIM-9J is worse or better than the R-60M?
