Updated Nuclear Escalation: Vietnam!

flared easily, can’t do more than 2.1km until lost it’s energy
but yes I admit R-13M1 has better range and more or less close with AIM-9J (and not all aspect)

The R-13M1 is a bit of a hidden gem, I feel

Yes, AIM9L, R60M, and even R73. Can the current NT really be called Vietnam? The aircraft actually deployed in Vietnam had no survival capabilities in combat and were even prohibited from participating in the battle. And weapons that were never produced during the Vietnam War appeared in large numbers here.

Its still not fun to constantly only ‘fight’ AA. Completely ruins the game. The amount of AA should be reduced by 90%, and they should actually comply with the laws of physics (eg, be able to be notched and flared). Only the rear airfields should be covered by SAM’s, and the convoys / bases maybe by a AAA here or there. The beeeppbeeeppebeeepeepbeeeepepebeeeeeepbeepbeep of RWR also utterly sucks. If RWR is constantly beeping, it defeats the point of any RWR

Tell that to the OSA AKM and the Roland, which both entered service post Vietnam

F-5C RWR can’t detect MiG-25 radar, so you can be randomly smited by one out of nowhere.

I believe this mode just isn’t for you, if you have such a problem with anti air

exactly, and they use J band which most non USSR jet didn’t hear any ping of them (E, G and I band only RWR) even F-4EJ can’t hear it

Its impossible to kill mig25 unless pilot is complete smoothbrain. And mig25 stay invulnerable while also retaining ability to kill. Without any brain involvement.
While jets you mentioned have to get close and/or rear aspect. None of them can fly 2000+ kph and send telephone poles from all aspects and beyond visual range.

Thats the question people were asking gaijin in first vietnam iteration. Gaijin listened to feedback and… mig25pd is still available. Just like other “vietnam era” jets with “vietnam era” weaponry.

He’s partially right. The SPAA doesn’t need to be reduced though, just spread out.

Having 90% of your SHORAD and warehouse capabilities within 10km of the frontline makes 0 sense logically and thematucally, they need to spread out everything way more.

The biggest issue is that the anti air is just not following the laws of physics. Even if Im behind a hill I keep being locked. Heat-seeking AA can’t be flared, radars cant be chaffed. You cannot climb to any altitude so the complete game is 2D at below 500meter altitude. If you climb you get 10-15 missiles shot at you. There is no reload time, no finite number of AA missiles. The AA has infinite stocks of missiles to shoot at you. There is no counterplay. They will just shoot down any HARM you shoot at them.

FUN AA would be cool. Attacking an airfield should be dangerous. But like this is just completely ruins any actual gameplay.

That’s a fair point, but it’s a result of the current map size

Hopefully the map size gets increased at some point, so the infrastructure and defense is less clustered

I feel it is very unfair that a plane like the mig 25 that never participated in Vietnam gets to be in this event. If the MiG-25 gets to be in the event, then so should the F-15A, since those two were made around the same decade yet one gets to be in the event while the other cant, and while one is a whole br/tier higher than the other it still would be somewhat evenly matched because they both get long range misiles (and just because one has guns and the other doesnt, does not give one an advantage over the other, they themselves have different roles) And if not the f15a, then add in the f4e or f4j with one having a bad radar and actually belonging in the war while the other was also in the war too but better radar and longer range missiles

the map is already big enough it’s just that only 20% of it is used

I wonder why they didnt just assign absurd SP costs to softban certain weapons.

Its not that authentic when youve got mavericks rather than bullpups

Not even map size, anything past the frontline is mostly barren, minus airfields on long range AA of course.

There’s so much space for warehouses/factories, they just refuse to use it.

Radar SAMs tracking through the ground is a seperate issue.

You definitely can climb, you can flare IR SAMs and you can chaff radar SAMs, at least in the lower BRs, the top tier version is just a clownshow all around.

AA having infinite stock has been fixed, OSAs are limited to 4 missiles right now, unless you mean they shouldn’t be able to restock, which I don’t think should be the case.

Them shooting down mindlessly launched ARMs is necessary to make the mode more engaging, otherwise people could just spam ARMs at the start and get rid of most AA on the map.

There definitely is counterplay to the AA, you have multiple ways to either overwhelm their capabilities.

But they can send undodgable missiles at aircraft that are entirely incapable of doing anything to them, which means adding 10.0s to the lower bracket would be a complete disaster and ruin the mode. Yes the Mig-25 is good, but the 10.0s would hurt the mode more than the Mig-25 does.

Only if it gets a historically accurate config where it lacks flares.

I believe this is false.

I’ve played well over 100 matches at this point exclusively doing SEAD ARM/deck-hugging gun strafes at SAM sites. I’m 99% sure that once you break LOS, they either don’t track at all or do not track properly and the whole site goes inactive. The same applies for SPAA.

It’s specifically an issue wih BUKs, which aren’t in this iteration.
