I’m going to sound like a jerk here for a second, but it has become a serious question at this point between this, and the similar changes and issues on the tank end - has the Dev team ever actually taken a game design class? Cause I took intro to game and sim design 101, and while sure, it was 13 years ago or so, I’m pretty sure ‘everyone has a level playing field’ is still one of the tenants of balance. That is - either everyone uses the same damage model, or no one uses it. I fly my over BR’ed at this point F-14A in arcade, and someone lands a stray round in the nose but not the radar, I’m fine, or a nearby blast - I’m safe, but I fly my same 12.3 BR Hornet - a stray round near the pilot knocks out half the damn systems. Same problem as when in tanks, I use something that has a newer model - that actually gets used and isn’t randomly deactivated like certain vehicles have had, and I’m constantly losing use of the gun or something. Meanwhile, I shoot at something with an older model - and it just shrugs it off cause ‘ha ha, lack of details’, and then it knocks my gun out. Playing a vehicle that had a model update, or maybe even got put in with a detailed model - should not be an inherent disadvantage cause it has more detail.
Beside that I’d also raise the question where the gamefun is to fly jets which can’t shot anymore. For tanks its usually a hefty repair timer of 40 seconds for these new modules. But a jet? Its a mission kill, you can basically bail out. Whats the point of this “detailed” damage model?

How long will it take to fix this? ToT
I don’t wanna hear from anyone too lazy to go back to the airfield to repair their jet, though
Everything is great, but please fix the servers. I can’t fly because I crash, or the game kicks me out of matches, and it’s not my connection.
Unplayable at the moment due to Bmpt - cheers gaijin, merry Christmas. Hope you all enjoy the wads of cash for selling out your player base
Good point actually, likely one I didn’t think of because I’m the guy who actually flies in to the fight - and doesn’t sit out at long range spamming missiles, so I don’t always immediately realize when an other wise grazing hit has knocked out weapons and all till I go to use them and they suddenly don’t work in a second head on merge, or have more than one person targeting me so after the hit don’t survive too long anyway. Also because if my plane is too damaged to fly I usually try and bug out if there’s an opening to get back to the airfield, which yeah, is far less convenient but I think in air repair might be a bridge too far even for me.
I mean, if the RB/SB players want it cause all the realism (least when it suits them) that’s fine, I’d rather Arcade just use the simpler damage model without them.
crazy how consoles haven’t been able to load control schmes correctly for over a year, thats pretty game breaking tbh
This doesnt work. I just had 2x Su-30SM2s fire multiple missiles whilst on fire, in a flat spin, after taking a direct hit from Aim-120C5. One of them took 2.
Why is it that these aircraft are allowed to fire when dead?
