with SteelSeries GG sonar playing the game under SteelSeries Game the sound is way too quiet i switched it to SteelSeries Aux it gets so loud that i can have my Arctics Nova 3 headset off my head and hear everything clearly my main volume on my laptop is at 40% in the Steel series Sonar App my volume is set @ 45% media @ 30% under game mode i can hear Spotify 3x louder than the game i cant even hear jets flying over nor a heli inc. an enemy tank just right around the corner or right next to me even friendly tanks fade away close but get louder as i get closer then instantly fade like they just left ive tried auto stereo 5.1 7.1 all the same but i slap it to aux and its loud no its not my end COD WZ 2.0 no sound issues i can hear an enemy approaching or a group of 4 and those are footsteps not these whisper tanks
a leaf blower like the Starfighter used to
His point is you shouldn’t be able to hear other engine sounds over your own if its running. No need to be an jerk or salty
this isn’t true? i can still very much hear directions.
that very much depends on the tank.
different frequencies travel more or less distance in air. so tanks with high frequency sounds are going to be heard less further away compared to tanks with low frequency sounds.
they might have overdone it a bit. it should not be this big of a difference.
This table shows how many dB is lost per 1000m at different pure frequencies:
so a tank at lets say 100dB and 500 m away the low notes would be almost the same, only slightly lower but the higher frequencies would be around halved in dB at the same distance. and remember that dB is logarithmic, not linear.
(I don’t know much about this and could be wrong, just writing what i have found out so far).
I have the impression that they lowered the sound for all the mbt’s, even the t80 we can no longer hear them. Now the gameplay has become fcking stupid.
Yes, we can applaud the devs for improving the sound.
Lets no be a drama queen. It’s a sound change for God’s sake.
I’m the opposite of you. The “big 3” are boring and games are filled with them. I only play minor nations, and I can assure you the Abrams is harder to kill the most minors.
Im sorry, but this is good in the right dircetion but taken to far. Yes engine noise was super loud and coukd be heard forever away, especially the abrams, but now you cant hear anything. There are people doing stupid moves now juat cus they cznt be heard. Im flanking and getting flanked by people not even 10meters away and cant hear them. There hardly any noise at all now. It definitely needs to be turned back up, or not dropped so drastically. Can tell when teammates drive away in the beginning, there loud and then suddenly a it starts to fade and almost gone 10 feet later.
Huh,… that’s too much of a say → open your eyes as it was before we could ear the ennemy from 3km away,… nothing is different than that,…
The audio has been getting worse and worse for years and people were continually complaining about silent tanks…and now you pathetic fanboys try to justify the effective removal of directional audio past 80 meters as good or realistic, while realism is only a superficial excuse for devs to limit a feature they COULD NOT FIX for years.
But go ahead, continue to justify cutting corners in development, as a blind fanatic.
1st your own engine sound should be more impactful to your own ears than the one of a guy 10 meters away → that’s decibel level and wave propagation.
2nd of all have you heard of those systems reducing the sound of crowd in concert, in order to let the artist about the current music he produces?
Similar thoughts about 2 engine → one produces sound, which is a wave emission the other one produce another sound → when you’re exactly in the middle of both, a single Microphone can’t distinguish which one the sound is coming from.
Now the Sound Wave impact your tank, which makes it resonates into it,… → you can’t determinate direction, but just know there is an engine close by.
So anyways: SOUND NEVER SHOULD BE A WAY TO LOCATE AN ENNEMY,…
Unless we could get the commander to button-up from the inside of the turret → but then it could be gunned down by MG fire.
this is still a video game and not a simulator.
Well it is also based on Physical model,… not some fantasy shit,…
You ask for a fix, thinking that it is normal to hear a tank a 300m away, when you have you’re own sound produced,…
You’re saying that it is normal–> i prove you wrong → you change your argument to ask for fantasy shit.
Talk about a guy that claims to know what should be done for the sake of the game,…
I’ve seen better ones, ngl
haven’t changed the OES chally 2 yet… sound is still the same
Wdym? it has the new one
Yesterday when i was checking the sound for it. it still had the Old sound of the reving up and stuff maybe it was fixed but for me it was still the same one
probably your client was not yet updated, sometimes it happens and you can freely pay even tho you are on the old version
i was thinking that. your most likely right cause i haven’t been on since last sunday prior to yesterday
