+1 I like it
The Hull shape is more akin to the Leclerc than anything ZTZ-99A/WZ
its still the most valued possession they have in their own soil.
having info is one thing and having the actual dang thing in your possession is a very different thing/flex
It’s definitely major to them as it can give them pointers on how to improve. Their new domestic MBT already before this looked quite promising. We gotta understand for the longest time before that new tank, they mainly were reliant on T-62 & upgrading it alongside having a frozen air-force. This example would be good news (unless the Abrams was stripped down.
The Leo 2A4 while having seemingly an older less efficient array than that particular Abrams could still also be helpful on how they may want to model the armor layout. This can be seen in the Object 187 which took pointers from the Leo 2A4 with its complete different hull design compared to the T-72. It eliminated the drivers port weakspot and made the lower plate MUCH stronger.
Because of money issues, and other shady things during the collapse it was passed over in favor of a T-72B under a different name “T-90” but I’m pretty sure you knew all this already.
One thing I think would be needed for a United Korea Tree is a sub tree (Vietnam and Philippines seem good) 1. South Korea was good friend to South Vietnam and sent special forces to south Vietnam. 2. South Korea and Philippines are good friends and do lots of trade / cold war support. 3. North Korea supported North Vietnam during the war. 4. South Vietnam and Philippines where part of Southeast Asia Treaty Organization.
What happened to South Korea and North Korea in WarThunder? Wasn’t it announced a while ago? Shouldn’t it already be in the game?
Pretty sure it’s still deep in development. Not coming this year, most likely.
Lmao
yep South Korea sent some 350,000 troops to South Vietnam some even saw combat mainly the special forces version but still if that’s not working together I don’t know what is. Funny enough the defunct south Vietnam navy mostly sailed to the Philippines and where taken over by the Philippines.
Kind of sad though the ground forces may have some copy vehicles (I’m fine with that) where it will shine maybe in infantry when that’s cooked. Since infantry is starting in Korean War era adding Korea in when infantry becomes available to all with infantry might be a good idea.
When they originally announced it, they said it was planned but not coming very soon
Syrian Arab Army T-55A’s upgraded with North Korean FCS. The upgrades is largely based on the North Korean 68 MBT. Though the addition of the 14.5mm could also indicate that the Syrians brought 68’s from the DPRK to replenish their T-55 stocks after the Yom Kippur War. There’s also the possibility that both is true and the 14.5mm is part of the upgrade kit. These upgrades happened from the early-mid 1970.
The images below were taken circa. 1976 & 1982 respectively

There’s more pictures of Syrian or Rebel captured from Syrian Stocks with said FCS. Either way it could be a possible premium, event or squadron vehicle either as the T-55A/68 or T-55A (mod. 1976)
While there’s already suggested SPAA with the Vulcan cannon I just wanted to share this picture from a japanese magazine:
cool Gun truck would be great in infantry mode to mop up troopers.
I’m going to guess that’s a logistics truck made by one of Korea’s many vehicle manufacturers (not sure which one exactly) with the design probably based off a Hino or Mitsubishi design
Funny enough North Korea has some Mitsubishi truck clones but there apparently considered very good as they took the best of a Mitsubishi truck and the off road Russian truck and put them together. All things a Good military work truck
Based on KIA boxer, which is licensed version of the Mazda boxer truck.
Not reall a good source but hard to find a information other than korean site. Take a grain of salt outside of basic information.
That checks out since there’s not a lot of non-Korean sources on Korean any thing in general, especially before 1988, even in book form. Online info is even worse.
Either way it’s a good find since we can slot this at 5.0 or 5.3 since it’s just the gun and nothing else in terms of FCS and no radar. Also it would be a good excuse for the KAFV-30M to move up not only in BR but also to Tier V since we have something to take it’s place in that bracket
+1 North Korean vehicles interest me a lot
I have considered it before (I even started a stand-alone suggestion but never got round to finishing it), will almost certainly add it soon
Very nice find, thanks!
Good idea. It’s a bit difficult to place the KAFV-30M BR-wise, since it likely wasn’t built with a stabiliser, and Gaijin don’t like adding features that were only optional.
Also want to add for anyone who didn’t see it: the Korean tree is not planned to come this year.
A bunch of people seemed to interpret CM no.8 as saying the Korean tree was the next to come and would come in a few updates time, but this was never the case. I’m personally predicting Summer 2027 at the very earliest, but we’ll see. Gives them time to make things as accurate and unique as possible (slight copium)
