United Korea Ground Forces Tech Tree

Not me switching my VPN from ireland to argentina only to realise that you posted a screenshot, not an actual imgur link.

Anyway, excellent news for people in this thread, bad luck for those wanting to put korea in the japanese or chinese tree.

It seems I’ve lost. Well I hope they add enough vehicles to it to properly fill it out. Does anyone know of any possible sub TT that could be added to united Korea? Poland maybe? It doesn’t hurt to think ahead.

With the announcement of the United Korean tree I believe it is time to revisit this question. While it may seem easy to vote “no” on such a trivial vehicle with little to no recorded history, we must consider that without it, United Korea will be the only tree in the game which is unable to have a heavy tank (either through current means or future additions), meaning that someone who does not play any other nation will be unable to do heavy tank oriented tasks.

Potential heavy tanks for nations that currently lack them:
—Japan: O-I
—Italy: 44M Tas
—Sweden: Kranvagn
—Israel: IS-3M (V-54)
—United Korea: IS-2 (1944)?

It is a somewhat minor thing, but I do believe that every tree deserves to have one of each vehicle that’s rank III+ to play with. Of course, for most other vehicle types (at least in terms of ground vehicles) this is pretty easy, but with heavy tanks it is more challenging.

As for the historical context, there is little to go off. Allegedly, 12 IS-2 Mod.1944 were donated by the Soviets alongside other pieces of heavy armor such as ISU-122s and SU-100s during the postwar period. These vehicles did not see any service during the Korean War, and were eventually relegated to reserves. I am not sure where exactly this information originated, but it was generally considered dubious at best until around December 2024 when a propaganda video revealed that at least one vehicle was kept at an outdoor museum alongside the aforementioned ISU-122 and SU-100.

As mentioned above, none of the potential history of North Korean IS-2s is verified, but at least in my opinion, these unfounded claims combined with visual confirmation of the tank’s existence in NK is enough to warrant its appearance ingame as United Korea’s only present heavy tank. Obviously if your opinion differs, that’s all good, but I do personally think it’s necessary to “complete” the tree just as high tier MBTs and SPAA do.

These are the only two useful sources I could find with a quick search. More in-depth ones would be much appreciated!

I’ve been lurking in this thread on and off for a long time, and I’m so glad it’s finally being implemented!!! Thank you all for your hard work!!!

I believe Gaijin added vehicles for less, so I believe ther may come.

Also, I know about the NK ISU-122 and SU-100, saw pictures of those a while back, but never knew about their IS-2, looks badass

True!

I love (South) Korea

Yeah ISU-122 and SU-100 were of course not the intention of my post. They are neat and all but I am still largely opposed to copy paste in most forms (save for the IS-2 for reasons specified), and there is no doubt that NK is by no means lacking in self-propelled guns that can fill the niche.

There isn’t anything suitable really, if Gaijin does this tree right it will have plenty to use; if they do not, then only the addition of more Korean vehicles can save it.

Nothing when China and Japan will be getting most asian nations with any recognizable military. This would be Israel 2.0, copy paste until modern day tiers and from what I know Israel hasn’t been the most popular nation in sales nor with players choosing nations to grind. This’d similarly be popular among only a small fraction of players.

Israel has no popularity specifically because Gaijin decided not to pad it out with any unique support vehicles whatsoever, in both the case of Israel and United Korea there is plenty to add, so the only factor that matters here is how Gaijin implements it.

What happened to Ch’ŏnma-3? And are Ch’ŏnma-3 (Or perhaps Ch’ŏnma-20 now I suppose) tanks from November 2024, May 2025, and October 2025 all identical or are there minor differences between display?

Ch’ŏnma-3 appears to be an incorrect reading of a very blurry sign.
Ch'onma-20 sign

I don’t know what it says, but it seems people just saw a 3 at the end and assumed it must be Ch’ŏnma-3. If it did, it would say ‘천마-3’, but it quite clearly doesn’t.

I think it’s very safe to assume that Ch’ŏnma-2 refers to the ‘M2020’ and ‘M2023’…

  • ‘천마-2호’

…and Ch’ŏnma-20 to the vehicles seen in 2024 and 2025.

The ones shown in the factory in May 2025 seem identical to the ones in November 2024. Vehicles shown at the back of the factory in some of those images appear to have photoshopped barrels.

The one shown this month differs slightly: the driver’s seat has shifted to the left, away from the centre, and the turret has a snorkel for deep-wading very similar to what the K2 has.

I agree. It’s ‘천마-2#’ and # is debatable due to the blurry quality of the photo, but at least it’s not ‘천마-3호’.

To be more specific, it says “《천마-2#》땅크”.

In North Korea, double angle brackets are used to write proper nouns. Here’s an example:

Much appreciated for both answers, the base Ch’ŏnma series still gets pretty confusing at times, so I’d like to make sure that I’ve got all my information about the newer series correct.

While I am working on the Suggestion; wouldn’t it be better to replace the KM-SAM Block 1 directly with Block 2 or combine both as one, similar to CAMM and CAMM-ER? @ChieftainWarrior

The Block 2 seems to fit better in current game enviroment.

I neeeeed it xP

What are the actual changes Block 2 makes? As far as I know, it has slightly increased range (but the Block 1 range is already pretty good), and the missiles have a direct hit warhead.

I think making it one vehicle could be good, if that’s actually feasible irl.

After a quick research; the range was increased to 50km horizontal, speed up to Mach 5 (or higher, subject for more research) - as you said hit-to-kill and some other improvements.

EDIT; apperantly it also has thrusters like french ASTRER and also features improved Datalink capabilites.

Would make most sense IMO, I also could not see anything (yet) that a new tube would be required in order to fire it.

Is the Korea Tree going to come out with the next Update or some time later?
