United Korea Ground Forces Tech Tree

I Agree.

I think if ROC and PRC, west and east germany are together, north and south korea deserve to be together.
I don’t wanna get poltical but it pains me when a country is split(especially as a chinese which is a huge advocate for peaceful reunification of ROC and PRC) so i want DPRK and ROK together.

I agree. Both countries have a lot of unique equipment.
Also, the both koreas are close in many ways and should not be released separately.

Apart from being a Korean, this tech tree will have a lot of unique vehicles. Lots of people think that North Korean tech tree will be just copy and paste of China or Soviet, but except the original T-54 and T-62, other variants are basically completely different vehicles.

I am concerned since the aviation tech tree will just be Germany V2, with same vehicles of USA and USSR, but that could be solved from sub trees. This is quite a hard problem, but considering how Gaijin is adding sub trees, it will not be a big issue.

ABSOLUTELY-as an independent Techtree of course

Never separated.

I am but a humble United Korea enjoyer, respectfully asking Gaijin to show only but a little amount of consistency in the implementation of new nations.

Spoiler

Say it ain't so, Korea Bros

All seperated countries should be reunified in war thunder.
Also north vietnam is in china and south vietnam(Kim Qui) in USA for some reason

Genuinely curious what the Korean Community thinks.

Sadly chances of the ROC and RPC unifying aren’t very likely, due to historical disagreements.

I understand why Gaijin split North and South Vietnam between the USA and China. They had no meaningful domestic military industry, and thus relied on imports from their respective allies. So in this case, I agree with Gaijin’s decision to split them.

The difference with North and South Korea is that both these nations, while being ethnically and to an extent culturally similar, both have robust domestic military industry, and have been producing their own domestic vehicles for decades now.

North and South Korea both have the quantity and quality of domestic vehicles, with their own identities separate of that from China and the USA, to warrant their own tech tree.

not gonna get political but heard of the KMT and Ma Ying-jeou?
Anyways let’s be hopeful. the fact that war thunder puts west and east germany and prc and roc together is just wholesome

Hopefully Gaijin will pass the suggestion to consideration again soon like they did back in 2021/22.

UPDATE

Been a little while since I updated this so a fair few changes:

  • Top-tier BRs updated according to latest BR changes

  • New vehicles added:

    • T-34 (1941). BR 4.0, Foldered with T-34 (1942).
      • Copy-paste T-34 to for filler purposes
    • Sonyeon. BR 4.3, Premium.
      • 323 MLRS (Type 63)
    • T-34-85. BR 5.7.
      • Copy-paste T-34-85. The T-34-85 (Late) at 6.0 has slat armour and HEAT-FS rounds
    • WZ551 (D-30) (Ethiopian). BR 6.3, Premium.
      • Ethiopian modification of Chinese WZ551 with 122mm D-30 taken from their imported ‘M1977’ 323 (122mm)
    • Ch’ŏnma (Eritrean). BR 8.7, Premium.
      • Eritrean modification of the Ch’ŏnma, with KPV moved to be coaxial. Cool camouflage pattern as a bonus
    • ‘M2024’ 8x8 FSV. BR ??.
      • Only a mockup shown so far. Wheeled light tank with possible 105mm cannon, added to show where it would fit when it eventually is fully constructed and displayed
    • K1 (Late). BR 10.7, Premium.
      • Same as K1 (Early), but has different sights
    • K2EX. BR 12.0.
      • Upgraded K2 for export. Few differences to the K2NO, and is actively being developed and marketed, unlike the K2NO which lost to the Leopard 2, so fits better in the tree.
  • Vehicles renamed:

    • M36B2 → M36 (Late)
    • T-34-85 → T-34-85 (Late)
    • 323 MLRS (BM-11) → Nyŏmaeng
    • 8x8 122mm APC → 8x8 122mm FSV
    • 8x8 ATGM APC → 8x8 ATGM FSV
    • Sŏn’gun (2010) → Sŏn’gun-915
    • Sŏn’gun (2018) → Sŏn’gun-915 (2017/2018)
    • Sŏn’gun “915” → Sŏn’gun-915 “915”
    • K1 → K1 (Early)
    • M2018 → 6x6 ATGM FSV
  • Vehicles moved:

    • 323 (14.5mm): 3.7 → 4.0
    • T-34-85 (Late) foldered with T-34-85
    • K21 (XC-8-120): Rank VII → Rank VIII
    • K2NO moved from tech-tree to Squadron vehicle, replaced with K2EX
  • Other:

    • What was the Sŏn’gun (2017) and Sŏn’gun (2018) now merged into one vehicle, with the 2018 upgrades ideally being a researchable modification (ATGM launcher, replacing the KPVT with grenade launcher, extra Igla)

    • Currently also working on an alternative tree proposal with lines being roughly split as: Light Tanks/ROK MBTs/DPRK MBTs/Tank Destroyers/SPAA, which has made some of the branches a little more balanced in terms of numbers of vehicles. Still WIP, and might edit it to be a more realistic version of the tree that you could expect at launch, rather than a tree consisting of pretty much every domestic option like I have right now

Will update the main post in time.

Will ask this here as well:

Should the IS-2 be added?
  • Yes
  • No
0 voters

China operated four regiments of T-34-85s and IS-2s (one company of IS-2s per regiment) during the Korean War, and at least 1 IS-2 survives in a museum in North Korea. There is however no clear evidence (that I know of) that North Korea operated them. It is the only option for a heavy tank in the entire tree though.

This is a suggestion, so I think you can add it.

I voted “no”.

Let’s be honest, there are few people who wouldn’t be lusting after TT’s only heavy tank (myself included).

But until there is evidence that North Korea actually used it and not just received it for museum display, I think it should be treated like a B-29 on display at the SK’s War Memorial Museum.

Because once a vehicle is implemented in the game, it’s very difficult to remove it in the future, even if it turns out to be the wrong thing.

Yeah, I pretty much agree with you. I’m curious to see what the general consensus is though. Seems like at the moment (still with a very small sample size mind you) most don’t want it.

And as with the addition of Sweden and Israel, clearly it’s not a necessary requirement (although both have options for tech-tree heavies).

I wasn’t referring to the game; that was an intentional broad/vague reference to irl. In-game, that’s fine since it’s vehicles and stuff. In terms of Korea hopefully, this is passed and approved. With the other North and South Korean Separate tech trees being incorporated into this I do believe they have some vehicles not mentioned here.
