United Canada, Australia & New Zealand Ground Tech-Tree: True Brothers

Update #1:

Replaced the Leo 2A6M CAN image with what should hopefully be one of the 2A6M CAN and not the 2A5DK.

Added credits for @GTP_Paulie-psn because, despite both of us doing a final review, we missed the fact that I forgot to credit him.

(will likely add and adjust vehicles later)

What’s the Wildcat 30 doing in the tree then? German turret, Swiss chassis, that was proposed to Canada, at most tested, although I’m not certain that the vehicle itself was ever even in Canada or operated by a Canadian crew.

+1! This or nation folders would be great!

According to CaID’s suggestions on the old forums, both of the Shark AA were only tested by Canadian crews in Belgium.

As for the comment on the Lynx, I was mixing two different things together:

Testing vehicles, they were full services with others - great event.
The Lynx itself is not needed due to the Redback.

The only major issue with the UK is half the TT in game would become useless because “British crown” ruled it at one point. I think the UK could definitely have India maybe but all of the common wealth like Australia and NZ is just dumb.

Australia goes to US as ground sub tree and to the UK as a Air sub tree.
NZ can be inter mixed with ausie vics

Canada goes to the UK for ground sub

Ofc india either USSR or small chance but to the UK

This is all and opinion ofc im willing to discuss

The sources included in the post don’t state this, in fact, they contradict it. The available sources say that the Wildcat 30 was offered to Canada in 1984, while the Belgian firing trials had taken place previously, in 1983.

I’m not saying it’s impossible, it may very well have happened. But there currently is a complete lack of evidence supporting it.

Australia and New Zealand are only two of 56 commonwealth nations, they are a small selection of the commonwealth, and together with Canada form a well rounded, and relatively unique vehicle selection for Air, Ground, and Naval.

Splitting nations between major trees, as you have proposed, is perhaps the worst option for them. Not only do you have to research multiple trees just to get your nations equipment, you cant create national lineups and play the vehicles together. WT is a game of nations, hence the whole purpose of Tech Trees being nation based, and these nations should not be treated any different.

I am also of the opinion that Aus and NZ are a package deal, and should not be split up no matter what.

Yes and no, the biggest issue is the moment these vehicles go to the UK like the M1A2 AIM, and SEPV3 it makes the home TT useless to grind. Might as well remove the US tree if everyone is getting there top tier vehicles ATP.

My personal opinion is that there’s more to a tech tree than only top tier. E.g. Germany is also currently exporting their top-of-the-line MBT’s, and would thus not be the only ones with the Leopard 2A8.

Except every nation has an iteration of a Sherman, lots of M24s, M44s, Sabres, F-16s etc. and people still play the US. So at what point do people stop playing the US? In terms of top tier, a lot of nations share vehicles with the US and yet the US is still one of the most played trees*. F-16s, F-15s, F/A-18s, AV-8B+, etc.

*And growing, so when will people stop playing the US?

Yes but even then low tier US is in every tree to so… XD

It is not, only the most exported vehicles are. The US still has hundreds of TT-specific vehicles which will most likely not be seen in other TT’s (like prototypes or US-specific variants). Remember, the same holds true for any other nation which exports most of what it produces as well (E.g: USA, UK, GER, FRA, PRoC…).

Good luck getting those in game, there’s several prototypes that have been suggested and even non prototypes and they have yet to be added. It took almost six years for another wheeled light tank for the US yet it seems every update we see a new T80.

+1 will there be a naval suggestion

Yep, both coastal and bluewater, I’m working on one now :)

Cool looking forward it. I asked because i recently saw news Australia picked the upgraded 32vls cell Mogami ships and new Zealand might be next to choose it too. But also interested in their ww2 stuff.

Nice concept, you could even call it the “Commonwealth tech tree”

They rejoined in 1994. Though you’re probably confusing Commonwealth Realm and Commonwealth of Nations.

+1

though there are a few vehicles that are missing

Spoiler

(AU) Land Rover Perentie APS-30

image

(AU) LAV III EOS

Note: This weapon system is also tested on a Bradley chassis

image"

(AU) Sentinel II & Patria AMV35

Terrex with an Elbit MT-30 turret and Patria AMV with a 35mm built for Australian specs, was rejected in favour of the Boxer CRV

(AU) M113A2 Slinger

Testbed for the Slinger weapon systems tested by EOS. Also intended for the Ukrainian army, alongside the Slinger being mounted on Kozak MRAP’s. No images of it were found though

(AU) Humber Hornet Malkara

Humber Hornet equipped with the Anglo-Australian Malkara HESH ATGM

(AU) M60A1 MTTU

M60 trailed as a possible candidate to replace the Centurions, rejected in favour for the Leopards. Could be added for variety

(AU) M551

Another vehicle trailed by the Australian Army

(AU) AELT

Unique Australian Light tank developed during the Second World War. The prototypes were never armed but were intended to carry either the 2pdr and/or the 6pdr.

Other things of note

  • Australian Leopards: Even though labelling them as “AS1” and “AS1(Late)” is technically correct. A better name for them would be “AS1 (1976)” and “AS1 (2005)” respectively
  • Covenanter Mk.IV: Should be classified as a “Light Tank”, not a “Medium Tank” since they are the precursor vehicle to the Crusaders
