Hey,
I have been doing a lot of edits for the French weapons on the War Thunder Wiki recently, and I noticed alot of inconsistencies, particularly in the French Naval weaponry (but it’s touching on tank and airplane guns as well).
What you guys think about it, anything else that should be changed, or any corrections you might have? I wanted to do an open concussion, before making a bug submission. If you have any tips on what else could be added to make the idea get acknowledged, I’m all ears.
In before: Yes, I know there are many more inconsistencies in other nations. But gotta start somewhere. ;)
Machine guns:
13.2 mm Hotchkiss machine gun (wiki) - I understand that this is the general choice, when the specific model could not be established - leave as-is.
8 mm Hotchkiss pattern 1914 machine gun (wiki) → rename to 13.2 mm Hotchkiss Model 1914 machine gun (Yes, even such an old designs used “Model” designation, per [s7][s6][s1]). If you want to specifically point out that it’s refering not just to the gun, but also to the single mount used on naval vessels, rename it to 8 mm Hotchkiss Model 1914 CAS (Contre-Avions Simple (anti-air single [mount]) per [s1]
8 mm Hotchkiss Mle 1914 (wiki) → this should be merged with with the above, unless you go the “CAS” route.
13.2 mm Model 1929 Hotchkiss machine gun (wiki) → rename to 13.2 mm Hotchkiss Model 1929 machine gun
13.2 mm Hotchkiss Mle 1930 machine gun (wiki) → rename to 13.2 mm Hotchkiss Model 1930 machine gun
7.5 mm Mle 1923 machine gun (wiki) → rename to 7.5 mm Darne Model 1922 machine gun [s8]
7.5 mm Mle 33 machine gun (wiki) → rename to 7.5 mm Darne Model 1933 machine gun [s9]
7.5 mm Darne 1933 machine gun (wiki) → merge with the above.
Torpedoes
45 cm 1909R (wiki) → rename to 450 mm Model 1909R
400 mm 1926DA (wiki) → rename to 400 mm Model 1926DA
Justification: Consistency with the 550 mm Model 1919V and 550 mm Model 1923DT[s1]
([s5] uses sizes with centimeres everywhere, but it is my understanding that French used milimeters, per picture below, either way, the important piece missing is “Model”)
