I expected to see a list of what the US could get, not them being told to shut up.

I’m sorry if it comes across as rude. My intention was simply to point out what the thread is about.
As for ideas, there’s this thing:
Proto-Hellcat, same mobility but with even thinner armor and 57mm gun
That thing would probably only be about 4.0 since it’s got a very good gun and hp/t but the pure performance isn’t all that much better.
Hmmm I don’t think I see it. Hellcat is the BR it is because of the mobility, and this thing is supposed to be similar
Exactly, the whataboutism here is off the charts. The issue with the US tree is valid, and it’s perfectly reasonable to make a thread to highlight a gap in it.
One option to address this would be the addition of the M7 Medium Tank. Don’t let the designation fool you, the M7 was originally conceived as the T7 Light Tank and intended to replace the M5 Stuart. However, its weight increase led to a reclassification as a medium and functioned as a light-medium tank. It’s still highly mobile, more so than the Shermans. Gaijin could reasonably place it with scouting ability.
Otherwise, a much stronger candidate to fill this gap would be the M38 Wolfhound with the M24 turret.
Hellcat also has the M1 76mm gun so It can hit hard and run fast. The T49 while having a very good mobility also has a 57mm which while better than the 75mm in the Chaffee it’s not the 76.
Yeah that sounds about right. I agree T49 is worse than M18 but maybe not two whole BR steps
BRs are difficult to nail down but IMO it could end up being 4.7
Hol up, I thought the M24 turret was fixed in place on the Wolfhound for testing purposes only
Issue there again is those are worse candidates for the 3.7-6.3 Light tank gap since they would be lower/equal to the M24 with the Wolfhound being wheeled but having a worse Hp/t and the T7 having a worse hp/t and not a much more meaningful amount of armour.
My proposal would be for the M41 protoype at 5.3/5.7 and the M41A1 to have APDS removed and go down to 5.7 and the M41A3 to be placed at the 6.3 BR the A1 is now.
It was… but Gaijin can ignore it, just like Radkampfwagen 90. It qualifies as an incomplete/partially-built prototype and still could have a place in the game.
Got anything that would be 5.X?
I know I’m being silly but US 5.7 is one of my favorite line-ups, so I light tank for it would be nice. (It’ll probably be ripped away like the T77E1 was for the 3.7 line-up)
I don’t have the specifics on hand rn, but I recall hearing that the various prototypes that led up to the M41 were actually more advanced than the production model in some ways. Some had features like autoloaders, rangefinders etc.
Edit: T41 had stabilizer 👀
poll [header_image] The T41 light tank was the direct ancestor of the M41, but “ancestor” does not mean “outmoded”! Compared to the production Bulldog, it had a two-plane stabilizer, a coincidence rangefinder, a fire control computer, and several extra machine guns. Three of these prototypes were built, and after several improvements (and simplifications, including the removal of all the aforementioned advanced features) to the design, the Walker Bulldog was born.History and Design

Good point. If they’re cool with it then I’m cool with it.

True… but they can find their place at 4.X after M24, which partially addresses the lower part of the gap.

If the reload is faster than the M18, then the caliber size doesn’t matter. I can agree with the placement of 4.7 BR.
What BR would you place this at?
poll [T24E1_front] Just as the M24 was entering production in early 1944, a new prototype of the Chaffee was authorized. Named the T24E1, it was rebuilt off the original T24 prototype by the American Car & Foundry Company, starting on 15 March 1944. After work was completed, it was transferred to Aberdeen Proving Grounds for testing on 10 October. Compared to the production M24, the T24E1 lacked a commander cupola and had a removable double baffle muzzle brake, but the main feature that set t…
I hope it comes with a .50 cal even though it wasn’t pictured with one.
Looks like it has the same turret as M24 series prototype and that one was seen with roof .50
What BR would you place this at?
4.0 is ideal, and 4.3 is the maximum for its potential BR placement.

The thread of that suggestion found a photo of the tank still retaining the mount at the rear of the turret.
To quote that commenter:
You can see the .50 mount at the rear of the turret. During testing the vehicle would only have carried the armament necessary for the test being performed (eg. for automotive testing the coaxial MG would also likely not have been present).
Now that would be cool at 4.0 with APCR.
