Hello everyone and welcome to this new suggestion.
Today I’m presenting a new unit from the Type 47 destroyer class, the Chevalier Paul (D626).
The T47 class is a French destroyer class designed after World War II to replace the French fleet, which had been decimated by the conflict. This class is characterized by modern armament and the presence of technologies that emerged and proved their worth during the war (surveillance radar, radar). This class is particularly modular, with many ships being converted during their operational careers into anti-aircraft, anti-submarine, or command vessels.
Le Chevalier Paul is the sixth ship of this class, built starting in 1952 and commissioned in 1958. It quickly underwent a complete refit, being converted into a command ship in 1960 (three ships of the T47 class were modified in this way). A command bridge was then added forward of the existing bridge, allowing it to accommodate a full staff capable of commanding a small fleet from this ship. Subsequently, the Chevalier Paul sailed the seas and oceans, notably in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean, but also in the North Atlantic, reaching as far as Norway and further east as Malaysia. Decommissioned in the early 1970s, the ship was stored for a time before being sunk during a gunnery exercise, like most French ships of the era.
This ship is named in honor of Chevalier Paul, a 17th-century French sailor born at sea. A member of the Order of Malta, he was knighted despite not being born into nobility, due to his bravery and numerous feats of arms. He then joined the French Royal Navy, where he again distinguished himself in many battles. His name is often used in the naming of French warships; a French frigate, Horizon, is currently named in his honor.

Characteristics
-
Length : 128 m
-
Width : 12
-
Draft : 5 m
-
Mass : 3850 tons
The ship is powered by a 63,000 hp Parsons turbine, driving two propeller shafts, which allows the ship to reach a speed of 32 knots. The estimated range is 5,000 nautical miles at a speed of 18 knots.
The crew varies depending on the era but is around 300 sailors.
Equipment
-
Radar :
- DRBV22 air surveillance radar
- DRBV31 sea surveillance and navigation radar
- DRBC31 fire control radar
-
Sonar :
- DUBV24 sonar
- DUBA1 sonar

Weapons
-
Before 1960 :
- 3 x 2 127mm mle 1948 canons
- 3 x 2 57mm mle 1951 canons
- 4 x 20mm canons
- 4 x 3 torpedo tube (2x3 short for anti sub and 2x3 long for anti ship)
-
After 1964 :
- 3 x 2 127mm mle 1948 canons
- 2 x 2 57mm mle 1951 canons
- 4 x 20mm canons

In-game, the Chevalier Paul in its command ship form would be a very interesting addition to the French tech tree, providing another version of the T47-class destroyers with less armament, thus adding a unique vessel to the French tree and complementing it in a clever way.
