Background/History
The Type 143A Gepard class fast attack missile craft or schnellboot is a class of 10 vessels built between 1982 to 1984, if the the ship looks familiar or the 143 in the name rings any bells you aren’t mistaken, the Gepard class is in fact a evolution of the albatross found already in-game and are in fact are somewhat similar, as an evolved version of the Albatros the main difference being that as the Cold War progressed Missiles became more and more advance and so as a result these ships sacrificed the rear 76mm gun for a new 21 cell GDC RAM launcher, however unlike their predecessor these ships did not come torpedos on the rear of the ship nor any at all though sources indicate these ships had 2 12.7mm machine guns aboard, otherwise compared to their predecessors they were pretty much the same, these ships would see service up until the early to mid 2010’s when the class was slowly decommissioned form 2012 to 2016 with the lead ship Gepard which was decommissioned on December 12th, 2014 being preserved and opened as a museum ship in Wilhelmshaven, Germany alongside other preserved German ships.
