Tws

I have a question. Is it profitable to use AIM-120a on TWS on SB? I bought a joystick and a throttle for it and I’m going to start playing on it, but does TWS work better on the SB than on the RB? Or at least the TWS from the AV-8B Plus, because I literally only managed to shoot the RB in the AV-8B+ a few times with the TWS, but the enemy plane literally flew straight without any maneuvers.

TWS.
Can launch at multiple enemies at the same time, no lock warning and cant lock on friendlies

If you use manual selection instead of cyclic, it can still lock friendlies

Exact same for both, TWS is generally recommended because it gives no warnings but a hard lock can sometimes just be more reliable if the target is doing a lot maneuvering.

Its something you’ll just get the feel for.

If you fired at low, at something also at low alt, then it was most likely defeated by Multipathing

The low flight altitude could actually be harmful. So it is enough for me to fly high, for example 10 km, for TWS to be effective?

TWS effectiveness doesnt change at different altitudes but any SARH/ARH missiles becomes more effective when fired at higher altitude, and especially when engaging targets hugging the deck.

Think of multipathing like the ground is giant mirror. When the target is below 60m, the missile can confuse the reflection on the ground for the actual target and go for the reflection. By firing down onto a target, the missile will impact the correct target on the way to hitting the reflection, but if the missile is flying level at the target, it will often dive towards the ground at the last minute.

Thanks for explaining. And in general, I saw some people shooting a few AIM-120s using TWS at a distance of 15-20 km at a distance of 4 km and quickly turning around so that the TWS no longer sees the targets and these missiles somehow hit even though they are not guided, they just fly blindly, remembering more or less where the target is going and somehow they hit. Does it really work like that and are the AIM-120as reasonably accurate this way, or is it better not to fire the AIM-120a this way? Here’s a video of someone literally doing what I wrote (0:57)

The missiles starts tracking on their own after a while.
If you lose the radar track it might lock on to a friendly
