You consistently glossing over the fact that they have brick airframes dating back to 11.3. It is that low for a reason. Both of these struggle to dogfight the Su-34, considered the worst 4th gen airframe overall.
It matters because amraam carriers are balanced in relative to other amraam carriers by gaijin. Bringing in the Derby does not change this.
Because you mentioned pl-5e2s and R-73s. These are objectively worse IRCCM missiles, found at earlier BRs than even the first supersonic 9Ms. The only low br 9M plane is the A-10C which goes to show why 9M carriers are higher BR on average.
You assume IRCCM means they’re the same. They are not. 9Ms are the 2nd best IRCCM missile in game, only behind the AAM-3.
It will have better speed and turn than 120s next update. At the very least, it is clearly better at close-medium range than slinging an aim-54 at someone within 10km.
To begin with, it was a mistake for Gaijin to release the F-14 as a premium vehicle. Why didn’t they consider releasing the late-model F-14A instead? After all, the F-14D is essentially the product of modernizing the F-14A; aside from the radar, its basic performance characteristics shouldn’t differ significantly. In my view, the right move would have been to propose implementing the AIM-54C ECCM/Sealed—rather than stubbornly fixating on the AMRAAM.
Look at any other 4th gen airframe, please. They’re 13.3 minimum with the exception of upcoming F-16XL which only gets 4 amraams and 2 9Ls.
9B is still an IR missile. This does not make it equal to the 9L. You are comparing apples to oranges. FOV gatewidth only guarantees a kill within 2km rear aspect, and the missiles otherwise act like a glorified 9L. 9M will guarantee kill anyone around a 6km radius as long as they’re side aspect. That’s the difference.
It does their multiple upgrades it received to make it better than the f14A that the whole point of upgrading
Aim54c+ is already in game and itll never be as good as a aim120/f-90 or even close the aim54 was a outdated missile that was gonna retire and be replaced with the aim-152/aim-120
If the Phoenix is considered an outdated missile, wouldn’t the simple solution be to just raise its Battle Rating (BR) without stripping it of the AMRAAM capability? It makes no sense to deliberately negate the advantages gained from the modernization program—which allowed for an increased number of simultaneously guided Phoenix missiles—by removing that feature now.
Furthermore, in War Thunder, the Phoenix suffers from a reduced turn rate because the missile doesn’t roll in flight. In reality, the Phoenix is designed to control pitch, roll, and yaw, giving it exceptional maneuverability and the ability to pull nearly 30Gs.
We aren’t children making a “wish list” of things we want; instead of just asking for new additions, why not propose corrections to the existing implementation?
Buffed last update, now turns similar to an AIM-120. Their main issue comes from the horrendously slow acceleration which makes it unsuitable for the medium-close range engagement that dominates ARB.
Clearly you don’t. You haven’t even played those missile carriers to the point where you can tell the difference. The general consensus is aam-3 and 9m being the top 2 IR missiles. You thinking that they’re anywhere near the same as the other IRCCM shows me you don’t know what you’re talking about.
Like I said even with the upgrades the aim54c+ got it was gonna get replaced by the aim152 and aim120 and I never said people should stop asking for it to get reworked I’m just saying it won’t really make it more competitive and if it did just look at f14A iraf it would just get pushed to a higher br
In that case, shouldn’t you be fighting while embracing those very weaknesses? I don’t understand why everyone wants to give every jet AMRAAMs and homogenize their performance. After all, the key to this game is figuring out how to leverage a jet’s capabilities despite its flaws, isn’t it? If you want to fire AMRAAMs, there are other aircraft like the F-15C or F-16C available. You’re being incredibly shortsighted by insisting on slapping AMRAAMs onto everything.
Opinion? This is quite literally a fact? FOV IRCCM does not apply in the usual ranges where you start slinging IR missiles. Suspension/shut off works at all ranges. So 9M is better. It is that simple. How is an IRCCM that only works within 2km equal to one that works at all ranges?
I simply cannot fathom how, after all the debate surrounding the addition of such a shitty feature, a fictional weapon is being introduced based solely on the claim that it was “used experimentally.” It is precisely because precedents like this are set that we end up with cases like the Yak-141 and Kh-38MT.
