Trunnion on Leopard 2

Does anyone mention the addition of trunnion on Leopard 2? It is neither part of armour nor a functioning structure, but it does reduce the overall armour. Another excuse to nerf Leopard?

The trunnions, although being a part of the elevation mechanisms, are still armored;

I really doubt this is armored.

When penetrated the pen directly hit the bleech and crew, and trunnion is even not displayed as hitted. I have no idea why this happens
