Transfer of console-created accounts suspended until further notice

You’re making the common mistake of using the term ‘transfer’ for 2 unrelated things. Cross-progression between Xbox and PC works as simple as possible - you just login with your Xbox credentials into PC version and keep all your progress etc, with only limitations of vehicle packs purchase and marketplace access.

The unlinking is a whole different story that was approved with platform-holders separately and is much more complicated technical task requiring a lot of manual work. When (and if) it will be continued, it will be announced on the forum, we don’t have any ETA for it.

I first started playing WT on xbox, made progress and bought a few vehicles. I then bought a computer and at first I didnt know I could transfer my progress at all. But later when I looked into it I found that i could. I had already set up a gaijin account separate of my xbox account, but when I did the linking it merged my purchases and progress from my xbox onto my pc account. I thought it wouldnt be a big deal to Unlink/transfer the account again as I was immediately getting a notification to do so right after I made the link.

From the way my progress was transferred from my xbox to my pc account without the involvement of your support team, and with just a few clicks on my end, that tells me you have an automated process. With unlinking/transferring my account now should be easier as you are just severing the connection between microsoft and yourselves.
I understand the stupidity that microsoft has surrounding their transactions, and thats why Ive never once questioned why some of my GE and premium time would be lost in the unlinking/transfer.
My issue is that gaijin makes the process of unlinking/transferring much more difficult than it needs to be, and by difficult I mean the act of even starting the process by knowing when it is available.

From having 2 kids to buying my own house ive managed to miss the transfer windows the last few years.
I get its my fault for not logging on every day and checking these forums to have the chance to run across the announcement, but its not like you all announce it clearly either. I imagine your next vehicle pack your are coming out with wouldnt sell nearly as well if you announced it the same way you do these transfers.

What you describe is impossible, you can’t link your Xbox account to email that is already used in PC version. There’s no merging of accounts, you can only link the email that was never used in any of Gaijin games. But again, linking email is not even necessary, you can simply use Xbox Live login option.
And yes, it is an automated process, you create your Gaijin account without even knowing this when you first launch any of our games on the console.

What you should understand is that it’s a SINGLE account, just with 2 different types of accessing it depending on the platform you run War Thunder on.

So when it comes to ‘unlinking’, it’s not a simple separation like you think, there’s nothing to separate in the first place. Instead, it’s a convoluted process of creating a copy of your initial account and making it a stand-alone entity, hampered by all kinds of policies on what can be copied or not.

At this point, the issue appears to be communication with the overarching playerbase.
Most of these issues would be understood if it were made very public that the process for account transfer(s) and ‘unlinking(s)’ weren’t as simple as a few clicks on a webpage. To the vast majority of players, this is easily digestible. The biggest issue with this matter is how no one knows when to expect a transfer period to open up. Right now we don’t know, just as much as you don’t know, but if there were even a hint that it could happen soon: it should be loudly broadcasted to the playerbase, repeatedly, as to be sure to keep everyone informed. Steam news updates work well enough getting information out to the masses, and there is no shortage of community members sharing information for upcoming changes and releases across YouTube. If they would be utilized to assist in this matter, the community would be all the better for it.
I hope this issue can be resolved soon enough, and account transfer will continue again.

This is what I figured for the process, it involves inserting the player progression into a new account and deleting the old one. I’m guessing the main obstacle is wrangling all the data associated with each account (Messy SQL or NoSQL player data)

As an overconfident American who has no clue what he’s talking about, my solution would be to create a pipeline that executes this process for a fee ($5-$10) Here’s a free process flow mockup-

  1. Pull data from current account of requester to new account (INSERT INTO NEW ACCOUNT)

  2. Deactivate existing Account

  3. Send email with new account details

4.???

  1. Profit.

I’m not sure what cloud architecture Gaijin is using, but this seems pretty straightforward with tools that AWS/Azure/GCP offer. I’d love it if you did it for free, but there are certainly risks associated with this method, so limiting requests through financial means is necessary (Also incentivizes stakeholders to buy into this project ;) )

Steam is the last place where console players should be looking for this type of news. They aren’t even allowed to play the Steam version if their account was created on the console. Vast majority as you put it doesn’t need this information at all, as they are either PC players in the first place, or are playing on their console happily and don’t want to change platforms.

I want my account to be transferred so I can play on one device just give your community a proper heads up when the service is available. Not hard

So you want people to pay to be able to pay them more money more easily? What a bizarre thing to advocate for. You don’t need to be advocating for companies for them - that’s their job, not our job as consumers. Your thinking and complacency to accept it (well, you are going one further by suggesting it for some reason), is why gaming is in the state that it’s in. Isn’t it enough for you that’s there’s 12 gorrillion micro transactions, battle passes, skins, loot boxes, DLC’s, premium version, deluxe versions, ultimate versions, memberships and subscriptions? Or do you just want to spend even more?

Yes I just want to spend more money on the pay 2 win game thats why I’m here. The only thing I can’t do with my PlayStation account is access the gaijin storefront, i can still play the game on PC with my PlayStation account. The only reason to want to transfer your account is to access the gaijin storefront.

I’d prefer it be free, but I know that these processes need incentives to be done. $5 seems worth it to me, as manipulating player data is always a risky endeavor.

The incentive is the one that i’ve laid out here multiple times, as well as the other guy. That they’d earn more money by doing so, and the other guy mentioned that they wouldn’t have to give microsoft and sony a cut (which I didn’t even think about but is absolutely right and spot on). The other incentive is player and community happiness and satisfaction. There is no game without the players, and the players are the ones that are funding this game and giving them money since they made it free to play (to extract more money than game companies usually make, hence why more and more games are becoming free to play).

You have to have higher standards and demand more. They already get enough money out of the average player - or else they’d pack up and shut it down. If they want more money, they should improve their game and service, and make spending more money justified and worthwhile.

A process that would earn them more money should not be monetised, and you don’t need to be making that argument for them. If they want to make that argument, they can - but it doesn’t benefit you (it goes against your interests, it is only in their interest to do this), so why would you?

instead of asking here every day, why not just bookmark this on your browser and check there? if its open, it will say its open and if its not well its not

Lol I downloaded the game through steam years ago and still continue to play it through steam right now, (I have over 1000 hours into the game in steam) only time ive ever even opened the gaijin launcher is to force an update when steam was being slow. Just got out of a match actually, so maybe you are mistaken?

And yet this is exactly what happened for me. Since you are wrong about the steam thing, maybe you should go back and check this as well.

Left click and hold,
then drag cursor over what needs to be copied,
release left click,
right click on highlighted information a option box appears,
left click on “copy”,
go to where ever you need the info copied and right click again opening the option box,
left click paste
Viola! Copy paste has been around in Windows since at least Windows 95 (thats the earliest ive used)
Unless Gaijin uses apple products, which if thats the case that would explain so much…

This right here is part of the main issue. If you arent even sure yall are even offering the service, why do I still see that notifacation for it when I log in here. And “if” yall do continue the service, why not simply announce it regularly instead of trying to hide it.

I dont even know what garbage this is…
The incentive for gaijin is that the player pays them directly and microsoft or sony doesnt get a cut. The incentive is also that the player would have access to the market place/sales thereby giving the player more opportunity to give gaijin money.
Gaijin does nothing but make money from the transfers, and yet you think they need more?
lol

😂 anytime, and for the record I do agree with you on principle, I just don’t have as much faith in Gaijin.

As many years as this has gone on, its just fun for me watching the devs dance around and not address the announcement and hiring more people for this process issues.

I have no faith in them either, but maybe I can annoy them into making a change since asking nicely doesnt do anything.

To be clear what happens to the account on console when you transfer does it wipe it off the console? If so is it impossible to log back in on console? Asking so i can be aware next time transfer is available. If you can explain to me thank you.

Im just trying to access the gaijin market to buy tanks and skins but if i cant continue to play on console or re-login on console I probably wont transfer {if it even
locks me out of console play}

The key part is ‘years ago’, it’s not allowed anymore for several years at this point.

Unlike you I know exactly how this works, and you’re confused about your different accounts.

The store notification for console accounts was already updated and the mention of transfer was removed since it’s unknown if it’s ever going to resume.

Must still be allowed on some level as Im still doing it, and not having any issues.

Obviously you dont, and I dont have multiple accounts. I actually refuse to make multiple accounts, hence why Gaijin is loosing out on me playing/paying into Star Conflict and Enlisted untill I can get my account fixed as I dont want to waste the money only to loose the purchases and progress in the transfer.
Actually, I cant even play Enlisted at all even if I wanted to, and Ive tried out Star Conflict and really liked it.

I know youd like to believe Im on here lying out my ass, as that would be easiest for you, but sadly Im not.
