Tracking radar sees through trees and targets on ground

Is this an intended feature where a target sitting on the ground is visible by radar through trees?

Do OSAs and 2S6’s/other vehicles with tracking radar ignore ground clutter?
Yes I understand they are SACLOS but I am being locked by the radar.

yeah uh trees dont block radar for some reason…

Radars and tracking in general is a total mess in the game right now. Radar going through trees isn’t entirely unrealistic though really there should be a limit to this. I think the bigger issue is the radar going through solid objects, just love seeing radar markers and wondering where the hell the supposed aircraft is (it’s a drone flying out of sight and behind multiple buildings).
Trackers also constantly refuse to work at all, how the hell am I supposed to even use the funny ahead if I can’t start tracking the extremely visible moron flying less than 1km away

Ehhh, not as bad as it used to be at least (well I haven’t seen it in awhile anyway:

its very noticeable when trying to fly a helicopter against pantsir

because they can lock and kill you through trees thick enough to stop you from seeing them, so a ridge with trees makes it useless as a position

Yes they do see you through trees. Same goes for clouds, they can see plane even if its “hidden” in clouds. And Im not talking about seeing with radar. They see you through clouds with their eyes.
Meanwhile planes get to enjoy this since 700m and up until I dont know stratosphere.

I even somehow killed t72 by clicking tgp on their map icon.

The problem lies with how trees are modeled. The trunks are solid objects like lightpoles, but the branches and leaves are just flat planes (which is why they appear flat when looked at the right angle). Because they don’t model proper collision on the planes outside the main GRB map, only the trunks get collision, meaning radar will see straight through it. If you have all trees possibly rendered in the map the same collision, performance would suffer massively. Gaijin just needs to rework radar to account for the foliage planes at a distance.

Is spinning radar able to do this?

As far as I can tell only the projection tracking can. Like I said is it also able to ignore ground and groundclutter/multipathing?

No idea
