wait… no, that MFRL is on the Normal Sidewinders position
it’s not even on a different position
look at the goddamn picture, it’s where it’s supposed to be

Make a Wish HOPE/HOSBO…
HOSBO has been in the files so that one’s coming
On the GR4 its nice, because unless you specifiically need a laser designator, you can operate without a tpod quite happily. Like with the PGMs (I assume HOSBO would be the equivalent)
Also in SB, you can use the FLIR for long range VID and it makes setting really accurate CCRP points a doddle
where would this even be mounted? I dont think it is worth it to drop the aim9L/Is for this. Some self defense for grb is still important
well on the Sidewinder rails as the Report says
you’d loose IR Proxy fuse sidewinders and instead get Laser guided Sidewinders with Impact fuse for Anti…tbh idk which tanks would die to a Sidewinder Warhead
Probably be good at taking out SPAAs without wasting larger munitions better suited for tanks.
yea but like low range still
its a Sidewinder after all
I mean I’d still like to have it, just for fun, but like… I wouldn’t put tooo much effort into getting it because that wont be worth it
ah didnt see that

So not really that useful. Maybe against anti air. It would probably cool to see but I wouldnt say it should be a focus at all
yes yes, we should instead focus more on HOPE and getting a Working HOSBO
with Komoran II and LaGs as second Priority
Lemme explain.
Since the LaGS is literally just a SAL weapon, you can mount it in any other hardpoint that supports those, plus at the AAM pylons.
Whats better is, while the L/is can be flared…
😏
they 9Li’s should have a better flare resistance than the 9M we have in game tho
would be funny to get a kill with a Laser guided AAM tbh
Hmm, difficult topic. My current position is that HOPE/HOSBO/PILUM never reached series production and did not arouse any real interest from any country. If I’ve understood correctly, the SPICE bombs emerged from PILUM’s ideas and tests. For War Thunder, I honestly don’t know what to think. It is clear that the developers are trying to create a similar configuration to the Tornado Gr.4, with a selection of IR-guided bombs. There would be little to no choice for the German Tornado. Then adding a more or less fantasy weapon, or rather just a tested weapon, I find very unauthentic. No, I stick to this: they should forgo an IR-guided bomb and instead bring out the AGM 88. Then at least the Tornado would be a little different and would have some benefit to the game.
Im actually not sure about that flare resistance part.
They’re the same in the game files iirc
a Tornado with HARM would need the ELINT to actually be useful tho and the IDS version were getting doesnt have the ELINT as it has guns instead of it
I would be very interested in a Tornado ECR ASSTA3 but I do not belive that this is Gaijin’s intention with this Aircraft as we’d see ARM carriers for other nations at the same time
I think he means IRL.
iirc, the Germans managed to make a slightly better IRCCM seeker than the Americans when they were denied Aim-9Ms
Ofc irl yeah the Li and esp the Li-1 are better. But not in game.
well by now the 9L/M sidewinders are about equally bad at resisting flares so it could very well be that it is more flare resistant than 9L but its just so little that it realistically doesnt matter
