Tornado GR.4: Tenacious Tonka

I might have missed something, but is it getting Paveway IV’s as like a consolation prize?

I think it’s HMS not HMD so probably not

But we are missing an A2A SRC radar which might have IFF

Probably.

To sum up, only Russian toys enter the game practically unchanged, and even the better (see) Wichr took some years to “balance”. The KH38MT is overpowering and practically unbearable, but it won’t be changed because it’s Russian… That’s it. You can complain as much as you want, but the developers don’t care about it…

I’m surprised they even decided not to add the Grom-1s (people had somehow forgotten Gaijin’s statement on balancing bombers via economy, something I still think is the dumbest, most stupid idea there is, but anyway.) but they decided not to, presumably because it’s a bit unfair to nuke the enemy base from the other side of the map and basically be invulnerable (you’re under the cover of Airfield SPAA)

And Germans get the MW1

They have BKW-39 dispenser as well.

What a joke

Honestly the best thing about the GR.4 is the fact you can use 4 X PGM500 while still being able to use the nose mounted FLIR to lock and fire them.

Still not great, but better than nothing I guess. PGMs really feel like they should be better than they are ingame, the booster feels like its just one of those handheld fans strapped to the back of the bomb

I feel they should pull Brimstone and give the Tornado ALARM.

At least then Britain would have a stand off weapon for dealing with SAMs. Of course Britain cant have anything first.

Lets be honest whats the Kh-38 going to be used to snipe…SAMs

be a bit more realistic

You have to buff the brimstone. Cant be waiting a minute and a half maintaining lock. SPAA will get u, the tank will either die or move behind a building. The missile is to slow, at range its a 1m 30sec guidance time. 1m 30 maintaining a lock on a tank that will get killed or go behind a building or spaa shoot u down since they are faster/longer range missiles

Brimstone is not worth it

Only has a 60s guidance time, so if the target is further away and the missile takes more than 60s to hit, then it will just explode.

Dont use the Brimstones as a SEAD Weapon at long range, they suck for that, use the PGMs, ePaveways or an entirely different aircraft like the Gr7 or Gripen.

Only use the Brimstones at close range with air superiority/after SEAD or use it at low alt (less than 300ft) in hit and run attacks at ranges no greater than 3-5km if you can. Can easily hit a target when fired at 2km.

It sucks the modeling decisions made for Brimstones as they are the weakest top tier AGMs in game at the moment, but just got to adjust our expectations of them, treat them like guided rocket pods like the AGR-20Bs and not like AGM-65s/KH-38s

this is probably what we have to accept, Gaijin has been quite clear that there stance is not changing when it comes to either the other modes or fake ir fnf.

Yeah, i’ve given up any hope for that. If it was any other nations, we’d stand a chance, but not with Britain tax. No chance at all.

Focusing my energy now on:

  • 12.0 for ARB and ASB
  • BOL Rails for extra CMs
  • IR guided PGMs instead of TV guided (+ PGM buffs like IOG)
  • Wing mounted Brimstones (as they are going to be weak anyway, we might as well get 15 instead of 9)
  • Brimstone buffs (guidance time, speed, prox fuse, etc)

Heck I reckon we have a higher chance getting ASRAAM than Mode 2 Brimstone these days

ALARM would really be useful to take out SPAA

Brimstones (in their current state) are pretty good for taking out tanks, but they’re really lacking against SPAA.

Currently we’ll have to use the PGMs against SPAA, but they’re really not ideal. They aren’t bad, but they dont work that well against good SPAA players.

Do we have much information on the flight performance of PGMs?

I was also wondering if we know if the PGM’s motor was smokeless in real life. I cant find any videos/images of the PGM being fired though to confirm.

I dont know. But there is a 5 month old report for PGMs to have IR seeker and they should also have prox fuse and IOG (also acknowledge reports)

What benefits would the IR seeker give over the TV one?

IOG would be nice, the PGM 2000s only need to land close to get a kill
