You’re really reaching here. I said smoke will only affect a small percentage of launches and you go and find an example that affects even fewer.
Of the four things said in the Dev blog that will make Brimstones to OP.
‘The primary reason is that this seeker utilizes the “lock-on after launch (LOAL)” mode’
‘they require no challenge to use effectively and have no counterplay options for those being attacked’
‘The attacker can operate outside of the range of any anti-air system in the game’
‘Brimstone is also immune to smoke’
1 is fixed by not implementing Firing Mode 3. 2 & 3 apply to weapon systems already available so should be discounted (Or remove those weapons from the game too). And 4 is the weakest. While 2 & 3 apply to every use 4 only applies to a small fraction. And on balance id argue is irrelevant.
Max range isn’t as big of a deal, since iirc all fnf seekers are like 10km capable, and above that tanks barely render in. It’s the amount of missiles you can sling in a very short amount of time. I’m still uncertain if the su34 will be better than the su25sm3. You get 2 more missiles that you might not be able to utilise. This is why the f-16c is this powerful, if it top downs the battlefield zone it can see every enemy with the targeting pod it has, and the mavericks will have almost a 100% kill rate due to the launch angle. So in the end, 6 enemies instantly nuked. It would be the same with the tornado but without the superior multirole capability of the F-16c
So to make it clear in case people cant understand the outrage. This is the section of the reasoning that Gaijin shouldve left off.
Everything else provided makes great sense i will not even refute it. THIS CHUNK HERE however, is nothing but pure irony.
This one statement will haunt future CAS additions like a ghost, because its hilarious how it is used as a reason against adding a weapon as it was designed, when theres multiple weapons in game already that already do everything that posts claims to want to avoid.
If i were writing this blog? I wouldnt have even mentioned that part, i wouldve told the higher ups “yeah if i put this in here, people are gonna lose it”
Ill make this more fun lets see all the systems that do this.
10.0-10.7 - Laser Guided Bombs and TV guided bombs out range early Stinger SPAA at that BR, most vehicles lack LWS.
10.7-11.7 - Maverick Bs, PGMs, KH29s out range most SACLOS AA at those ranges
12.0-12.7 - KH38L, KH38MT, KH29TD, AGM65G, AGM65Ds all out range all top tier SPAA (except the pantsir)
Tanks will render up to 20km away through a tpod, i know because ive tested it and done it on live
The Su34 is undeniably better than the SM3, you have 2 extra missiles at no difference in spawn cost, are better at defending yourself, and are faster
The tornado with 9 FNF Brimstones would be akin to the SM3 when it was first added. Amazing weapons on a really pathetic platform to justify it, as it stands now its just a pathetic platform with sub par weapons.
Either got changed recently because I don’t remember this. Even planes, I could see their contrails and even lock them, but the actual plane wouldn’t even render in. Similar for tanks, I could see their tracks. (And they would pop in and off randomly)
let me guess, its because devs dont want people slinging them from the airfield
why not just add the same feature the gps bombs have where you cant out a target point with gps weapons?(unless that was a bug with dance of dragons dev)
Judging from the fact that Britain is the second lowest played nation in top tier GRB and the lowest played nation in top tier ARB, it’s safe to say most Britain players feel the same at this point. So many years of British vehicles not being implemented correctly or artificially nerfed for pretty much no reason at all.
Tbh with the lack of people who even play top tier Britain, even LOAL wont make a difference because like 1% of the playerbase will play it or unlock it.
Su-34 and F-16C can easily enter “Enemy” airspace, defend against both A2A and A2G threats FAR easier than the GR4 can, fire off 6x FNF missiles (which is probably more like 12-13km for true FnF) beyond the range of most SPAA bar a few like the Pantsir, and then evade/escape with ease. They can then go on and dogfight anyone in the air.
Tornado Gr4, even with 9x FnF missiles, will still be more vulnerable than any of them. Also likely needing 2x missiles per target instead of 1 like the KH-38 usually needs. In any case. whether you can fire off and guide 2 or 6 doesnt matter. GR4 can only guide 1 at a time max, all with less range than the KH-38 or AGM-65. By all accounts, the best way to use the Brimstones will be flying in at 300 ft, locking at 2 or 3km and firing off a missile before darting off. They are not stand-off weapons in this modeling, but ultra short range guided weapons.
Rendering at 20k, is usually not an issue, but weather severly limits the range at which the tpod wants to cooperate. A thin wisp of cloud can block the tpod from even locking onto a static point half the time.
I even think the ones in game are moddeled as them due to the yellow tint. Ironic…
They also cant lock onto the GROUND at distances further than 20km despite boasting a 50km range, effectively making their 200 second guidance time useless…
They locked fine last I used them in late spring/early summer, and I’m unsure how they became broken between then and the current iteration of War Thunder.
