Tornado GR.4: Tenacious Tonka

Yeah they were lethal from miles away and even with the launch g limit they were great just couldn’t do limited all aspect like the J and R60

That reminds me, the FGR.2 was also the first jet to do away with the launch g limit (even if Gaijin did accidently keep changing the back and forth on a monthly basis due to dodgy version control)

All these people have been doing for years is deliberately introducing another OP feature into the game, only to nerf it later and create the next OP feature. This suggests that no one in this game actually cares about balance and never has, because there is no balance in the game. The claims that Brimstone would disrupt the balance are nothing more than excuses.

I remember when IR seekers were so sensitive/buggy they would lock onto the ground randomly

or you could get within 20km, set a target point, then disengage launch from outside 20km thanks to the point being remembered and passed to the Brimstone’s IOG (which also means they can be launched from behind terrain). Then take the time to reposition and get closer for the terminal laser guidance.

Yep, but that is still a lot more work than most others would have to do and that is still whilst defending against vastly superior CAP

Been said a thousand times before but the MMW seeker defeats smoke and cannot be balanced using existing ingame mechanics. As such its not coming at this time.

And this is where the disagreement is. Everything else is noise. The decision that the ability to see through smoke is the line between being balanced and un-balanced is wrong. Anyone who has played a few games at top tier and been hit by Kh-38, Spike or Mavericks knows this. All these weapons are incredibly powerful against Ground vehicles and Smoke is practically never used to block these weapons.

Brimstones, if added with Mode 2, would play identically to existing missiles with no difference actually felt by players being hit by them. Kh-38T, Maverick and Spike are on one side of the line, Brimstones on the other. But all will function exactly the same in an actual match. So the line is redundant.

I was taken out by a Su-25SM3 in the ADATS the other day. Never once appeared in my radar or IRST but visually saw him firing at me. Dropped smoke. Still got killed through the smoke…

Please tell me you don’t mean this one

It was a TV bomb, you didn’t smoke, it was fired from about 6km away and it was a SU-39 not the SU-25SM3

Then It was the Stormer HVM I spawned in afterwards then. Defo got hit by KH-38 and there was nothing I could do about it. Was out of range and I remember dropping smoke, which rarely is enough to defend against anything that has IOG

But defo didnt detect the Su-25/39 whatever it was, on radar or IRST

Okay phew.

Right so do you think smoking 1 second before impact should’ve saved you?

Smoke deployed 8.38.908

Impact 8.40:109

Okay so 1.2~ seconds before impact.

The point is, I only knew I had a Su-25SM3 firing KH-38s at me because I vusually spotted them being launched. The Su-25SM3 never once appeared on my IRST and was fired at twice the range I could ever hope to hit in even an ADATS. (must have been a later missile I spotted and not the one that killed me, which then brings up the other point of even knowing you’ve been shot at in most SPAA)

I popped smoke as soon as I did spot them and tried moving as well. It still hit and killed me. 90% of my encounters are the same with the KH-38s. Short of putting a building between me and the aircraft, Im dead.

Brimstones mmV is determined to be too OP because it can see through smoke. But KH-38 is so fast and has such good IOG, that even if you see the launches and pop smoke. 9/10s you will still die

Su-34 is only going to make that worse. But IOG on the KH-38 perfectly balanced, KH-38 with IR seeker, perfectly balanced. Any KH-38s on the Su-34 is considered perfectly balanced.

Just feels like cherry picking

Yes the Kh-38 is the strongest AGM in the game and is blatantly OP but it’s hardly a good idea to add another, even stronger AGM on top of that

Brimstone 1 in mode 2 would still be slower and have less range than an AGM-65 and the Tornado Gr4 is still WAY weaker than an F-16 or F-15 or Su-34.

But even just Brimstone 2 in SAL only would be enough to maybe make them less of a DOA weapon

Sorry I felt you mischaracterized your experience in that game. Any weapon even laser guided would’ve killed you in there. You had ample options when you spawned and I felt you had lots of available defilade to move into to get your bearings.

I was dodging the 3 or 4 enemy CAS up and trying to find an angle whilst also avoiding the enemy team that appeared to be actively pushing our spawn. There was no where safe. Not that I could do anything in the Stormer vs anything that was active, nor could the ADATS

(Quite frankly why the ADATS is 11.7 and not 10.7 is beyond me tbh)

TLDR: 3/4 of the reasons that Gaijin gave for nerfing Brimstones so hard are totally and completely irrelevant and the last is tenative at best

Isn’t Brimstone 2 just dual-mode Brimstone?

No, upgraded motor

Nah its a new rocket motor. And some other improvements. But a 200% range increase.

SAL only Brimstone 2 I think would be the fairest thing they could do. Brimstone 1 AND SAL only (and possibly a load of modeling issues that werent fixed I dont think yet like it could barely hit anything past 14km )

Just feels like slamming it way harder than it needed.

But they need to come up with a solution to mmV ASAP, because the lack of FnF on the apache really sucks
