Tornado F3/ADV - What needs to happen

Im a tornado enjoyer myself, but i dont see any reason to buff the tornado F3 (early).

Global stat wise, the Tornado ADV and F3 are the best 12.0 planes by a long shot, with the highest KPS till 13.3 only losing to the 2000-S5’s KD . Its quite obvious that its already a strong plane. (and no, this isnt because Italian and british players are better than everyone else)

I fear making any sort of buff will cause the plane to go up to 12.3 to suffer from the Su30 spam.

It will worsen the br compression if buffed in the current state of 12.0

BOL fix - I support in general but I never noticed it as a problem on the tornado in specific

Phimat - I support 100%

FM Buffs - yes for every tornado it is long overdue

Misc buffs - ehh it’s ok

ECM - hard no, it would make the tornado too OP for its br and then they’d probably up tier it like crazy. I think really only higher tier aircraft should receive tangible ECM, and then other aircraft that need it like bombers and F-104S.ASA, in theory so many aircraft had built in ECM and can take ECM pods, so if implemented at low tier it would just make everything annoying.

I think it could be great to use as means for balancing low tier aircraft (with in the realms as historical accuracy, but as it is right now it fits perfectly as a lot of underpowered aircraft irl made up for this with great ECM) and then also at high tier

The main thing I want for tornados in general is FM correction, most other things are optional (for me personally I want Italians to get kormoran and full weaponry load and avionics on A-200C)

Oh also another option I personally would support is an F3 late late as maybe another tech tree or event vehicle

It could have RAM coating, ASRAAMs, all ECM features, tow decoy, etc

That is kinda the point of the buffs though. So it can move up to 12.3 without being rendered DOA.

In its current state, moving up to 12.3 would be really really bad, but with how Gaijin actually balance (or more accurately, dont balance) vehicles in-game. Its current performance could very well result in it moving up to 12.3 before long.

Id rather have some, if not all these buffs in place before then, not 2 years afterwards when its stats drop through the floor enough for the devs to care a little bit

There are more radar missiles with HOJ then you think

Ive had a few issues with some IR missiles just ignoring the BOL or laddering badly due to the drop position and defending against any Fox-3 or even Fox-1 with them is much harder than say, doing the same in the GR4 with Large Calibre Chaff. Especially given getting into the notch in the first place is overall much slower.

If nothing else, their current performance is just unacceptable

TRD I think would be good if/when added, but the rest of the ECM is just entirely dependent on what or if Gaijin models any of that. Im personally doubting it.

Yeah…

Alas, Gaijin cant be bothered to actually finish what they started.

A full Tornado F3 FSP would be interesting.

or a specific Op Granby fit Premium maybe (9M, Skyflash STs, RAM, Phimat, etc)

and then gotta mention the Tornado F3 WSU / F4 :D

Was only a proposal… but could be… interesting…

I just run chaff only in the BOL and flares in the large cm slot.

BOL chaff get the job done and the big boy flares do the job.

Same thing with the F-14.

I voted no, because I personally think the improvement in CM’s etc. does no compensate the shortcomings the airframe has and would become more pronounced if it gets lifted to 12.3 (early).

Admittedly, I only have a handful of flights in it, and this in sim. I don’t consider myself experienced enough in it that I could say I can handle the Tornado F.3 adequately enough…

HOJ works against noise jamming, however, it is not particularly effective against deception jamming, which basically all modern aircraft use.

In addition the Tornado F.3’s ECM is in the form of a TRD, which makes it basically immune to HOJ as the thing doing the jamming is being towed 100 m behind the aircraft.

Voted no as it will be another dusty one at 12.3 with no FM improvements

Also when ever they buff anything it somehow always ends up worse. Look.at PL12 “buff”

Id just leave it be as atleast its fun

Wasn’t it actually 12.3 a few BR-changes back?

I seem to remember it was barely ever played before it got down to 12.0, at least in Sim…

I’m just worried Gaijin is going to only look at player stats and move it up with no buffs at all

Before the decompression, it was 11.7 in SB but 11.3 in RB and the bracket was 11.7 to 12.0, then 11.7 to 12.3 and all you faced was F16s and Mig29s for an entire year. This with 100m MP just sucked. Especially when you started to face R-73s and Aim-9M versions as well.

I’ve had issue with BOL chaff on multiple aircraft, but it is 1/4 the performance of standard chaff so that is no surprise.

Defeating anything in something like the GR4 is so much easier it’s kinda insane

Not sure but its been 12.0 since i started playing over a year ago in airRb

Good jet but like many others just a +0.3 would kill it especially at present.

Shame the devs said they wont fix the FM so any improvements are not really addressing the tornados main issue.

They need to stop doing this. By far the biggest issue i have with the game

Yeah…

Only if the long, long overdue FM correction happens, most notably the fix to it’s ridiculously high drag. Every single source I know states that all the Tornados should be able to achieve speeds in excess of 800kts down low, but none of them come even close to that number ingame. It’d have a real offensive/defensive edge with that speed, something it just doesn’t have currently, making it a sitting duck for anyone who has even a little understanding of how to play. Fix the speed, and I’ll support the other changes too

Yep. It is inpart why one of the suggestions is for emergency combat thrust that the Mig-29KR has. That could be tuned to negate the too high drag.

its the f3 late able to have hmd? would make locking targets up close easier
