So I did some honestly very basic research on the Tornado F.3 and noticed that the engine power seems to be a little low compared to what I could find online about it. In game its Dry Thrust is listed as 3760kgf and with Afterburner at 7200kgf.
When in real life it should be 4129.8kgf Dry Thrust and 7443kgf with Afterburner. If anyone has more detailed research about it would be interesting to see, just something I noticed, and its borked flight model. If it got its true engine power and fixed flight model it could easily sit at 12.3 again and be pretty comfortable ngl.
That’s the case for basically all planes in the game due to something called channel loss. All data you find online for jet engines is the power they produce in a test bench while being static, it doesn’t account for the loss in air supply due to the intakes restricting airflow to the engine. I think most planes in the game have a loss of about 5-15% depending on the plane but there are some outliers.
I had completely forgotten that Channel Loss existed lol
Would explain that bit. So I guess its just an issue of the flight model needing to be reworked then.
The Tonka has way too much drag and the FM is a total bodge job, but theyve stated they refuse to fix it. But I think the thrust figures are about right.
It could also get combat thrust but that is only modeled on the Mig21bis
yeah but remeber the channel loss is wrong as there are planes ingame that have .5% channel loss while others have around 22% specfically the F18 has least channel loss in game which channel loss is caused by moving AIR changing its direction specfically the F18 has a S duct and has .5 while a F14/F15 both have straight ramp ducts and have around 22% each which makes zero sense mig 29 also is in same boat as F15 and F14
For the Phimat, it might take some time; I don’t know why, but they refuse to add this pod to all the aircraft that can carry it even though it’s already in game, and even for those who have received it, it’s not always done well (especially on the Mirage F1).
I don’t know either; bug reports were accepted a long time ago. For the French planes, I think they’re refusing because it would add a large number of chaffs for low-BR aircraft (even if it has very little impact on the game). For the Tornado, I suppose they think the BOLs are sufficient and therefore it doesn’t need more ? Which is still silly because it would really be a worthwhile addition.
Now that’s just sad. If the FM got fixed it would be excellent, the F.3 Late would be far more comfortable to fly and the F.3 can go up to 12.3 which will make the British Phantoms more competitive as they wouldn’t be sitting in the same BR as an arguably superior plane.
ASRAAM would potentially push the F.3 Late to 13.3 I guess, however that plane requires a lot of help anyways. Does it also get the mid-flight data linking the AMRAAMs require that was given to it in a 2007 upgrade?
I can agree, the Tornado definitely doesn’t suffer from its avionics as it has better avionics than some 13.0 planes. Ironically I love my F.3. And I’m happy to see my stats are slightly better than the Server Average which is funny enough, pretty good. Like just looking at the stats tells you its a strong plane, but let down by its flight model.
Same, I just wish she didn’t drift so hard. I feel like instead of turning it slides and even slight adjustments take forever because it just drifts which doesn’t feel right to me especially when she has such a huge vertical stabiliser. First jet plane I’ve ever played where it feels like its sliding through their air instead of flying, damn near hit the ground multiple times while multipathing because it slides while rolling and wants to drop out of the air when at 60 degree bank angles.
