Talking about the T84 and VT4 is perfectly fine as what the topic is for!
VT-4 in Thai camo got so much aura, but the way Gaijin implemented the VT-4 camo model makes it almost impossible to get 100% accurate Thai camo since the ERA plates use the same texture 😩 — same with other Russian tanks with ERAs. Some skin creators made rotatable camo patterns to make a seamless pattern camo despite the duplicated texture issue, but I have no clue how to do that.

Since Japan lacks a top-tier lineup that can compete with some countries like Germany or the USSR, I must admit that I’m pretty excited for the T-84 oplot and the VT-4. These are two tanks that will definitely be worth grinding and adding to the Japanese line.
Really tired of dying because of slow reverse speed, hopefully the oplot will be added to USSR tree.

Technically, we have Soviet Oplot (Obj 478) in-game. It’s not much different to the T-80s.
Object 478B came into soviet service as T-80UD, already a premium in the USSR tree.
Object 478M with the upgraded engine, FCS, and an addition of an APS could be added.
When the Union collapsed, KMDB’s Malyshev plant had a couple hundred T-80UDs meant for the Union, but they were inducted into Ukrainian service.
After this, all Obj 478 variants are designed and produced by Ukraine’s KMDB and Malyshev Factory.
Including the Pakistani Obj 478BE (T-80UD) with the Chinese Tree.
Now if you meant T-84/Obj 478DU2 and above… that’s subject to Gaijin on where they’d put Ukrainian vehicles. That’s a can of worms far from this topic and I strayed enough already even if it’s talking abt Oplot/Obj478.
The VT-4 and T-84BM Oplot are Thai, they should go to Thailand and thus to Japan.
Russia does not operate the T-84BM Oplot, so why does everyone think they should get it, they don’t operate it.

The best part is, the Chinese TT already has Japanese vehicles, look at the A6M2, Ki-84 Ko, Ki-45 Hei/Tei, Ki-27, Ki-43, P1Y1, Chi-Ha and Chi-Ha Kai.

How about the gearbox of the fortress? If it hasn’t been modified, it’s likely to withstand a -4 backlash. In that case, the VT4 is more suitable as an advanced vehicle, at least its forward and backward capabilities are very good

Quite scarce info. Even then, I haven’t seen anywhere where it’s reported to have a modified transmission which is the case for Thailand’s Oplot-T (Obj 478DU9-T) and other Oplots.
I’m not sure when the Oplot’s transmission was given an adequate reverse gear, but some sources say the Oplot that was trialed by Malaysia (Obj 478DU8) had the reverse speed of 30+ km/h in the year 2000. There’s also T-84 120 Yatagan (Obj 478N) that was trialed by Turkey in 2000, and supposedly had a more refined variant, Obj 478N-1. The earliest I could find about a transmission was the Turkish trials Oplot (Obj 478DU5) that had a ‘new automatic transmission’ in 1997. Even then, it’s still post collapse.
What you’re asking for (T-84/Oplot/Obj 478 with good reverse) is post-collapse, and falls into the ‘Where Ukraine vehicles would go’ category.
At least the Thai Oplot-T would be available to enjoy soon. Perhaps Oplot-P from the Pakistani trials could go to another tree, likely China.
Yeah they’d say something-something, USSR tree not Russia tree. Ukrainian SSR, therefore… the whole spiel. Understandable but still in Gaijin’s hands compared to the T-84 Oplot-T for Thailand clearly going to the Thai branch.
Gaijin does have an incentive to lower modeling costs by using the Oplot in many trees other than Thailand’s branch.
I have searched for information about T84 and VT4 in Thailand. It seems that no relevant records have been found that are compatible with Chinese ammunition. If there is no evidence, T84 may really only have 3BM42. VT4 ammunition, which is currently China’s top ammunition. The engine is the same as the one on the current Chinese TT, with 1200 horsepower and weaker protection. However, because it is lighter, acceleration and speed may be better
You’re right. Maybe the local insiders know more but for now, there’s no concrete evidence.
People were just speculating, and at the end of the day, Gaijin can give whatever ammunition for balancing or other reasons.
As of now, the Chinese ammunition is said to be compatible because Chinese ammunition is backwards compatible. That means even the oldest Chinese 2A46M-based guns (ZPT-98) can use the ammunition.
Oplot-T has the KBA-3 gun which is also based off the 2A46M. People are saying if the gun can shoot it and Thailand bought the ammunition, it’s very well possible.

As a Chinese, downward compatibility of weapons has become a feature of China’s weapons development. If China’s top ammunition can be used, the Thai T84 will become a qualified top-level vehicle. If the weight cannot be assigned, it may be up to 11.3
I have researched a lot of information and found that the T84 model exported to each country is different. It’s very difficult to query. The configuration of Thai vehicles determines the final weight of T84. If we consider balance. Ultimately, it may provide China with top-notch ammunition and a decent gearbox
