Why though?
In fact, a considerable number of people support adding the VT4 to Thailand, but not during that specific version’s timeframe. To draw an analogy, it would be like adding captured Soviet tanks to Germany on Soviet Victory Day.
Secondly, before the 12.3 VT4 was officially added (following rumors of it being added to Thailand), Gaijin fixed the issues of the crew compartment being too large and the autoloader being too low. However, after deciding not to give the vehicle to Japan, they reverted the fixes, turning it into the garbage vehicle we have in the game now. We cannot accept this attitude of fixing long-standing historical bugs only when the vehicle is intended for the Japanese tree, and then reverting them when it is not.
As for Taiwan’s M1A2T: Taiwan is a part of China. Even if the Taiwanese military is not part of the People’s Liberation Army, it is still a part of China’s armed forces.
This was done after a report that the changes were missing from the VT-4A1. But instead of fixing the existing tank they decided to break the new VT-4 too.
This isn’t related to Japan at all though, considering that the same practice is common for Gaijin when reports try to compare unfair treatment in the game. For example the Type 81 (C) from 1995 was reported to get better thermals like the 1993 Type 93 had in game, so Gaijin instead changed the Type 93 to have worse thermals.
I do see that China is treated unfairly in game, probably more than many other nations recently especially looking at things like the PL-12 changes, but the Japanese techtree is not free from having the same issues. The VT-4 would’ve been nerfed the same way even if Thailand had gotten it, similar to how the other Thai tanks all still suffer from various issues, including the M60A3 and Oplot that are also in the Chinese tree.
The issue is not that hard to understand and most of us is understanding it quite well, the so called “deep-seated feud” is just a political excuses made by some party just to gain moral support from international society and also keeping internal wrath toward other countries instead of them. That why it is a invalid reason. If you can’t accept that then I could give another example, just like you said Taiwan is a part of China, but it is not a part of People Republic of China and they also having a “deep-seated feud” toward PRC, thus according to your arguement the Taiwan’s vehicle shouldn’t appear in the Chinese TT as the “China” in game only represent the PRC and not the ROC.
I understand the devs are not doing their job, but this is not the reason for you to undermine others TT, especially using some invalid arguement while ignoring the base concept which is the VT-4 will added under Thailand flag instead of Japanese flag. What you should do is filing bug report to devs and not try to argue with us by using some made-up unrelated IRL political views that without documentation support.
The good news is that everyone won’t have to worry about the VT4, that stumbling block on the tech tree, for a while. The bad news is that the new Leopard 2RI will be a nightmare compared to the VT4.
Aside from poor quality thermals it should be fine. It’s only B-tech composite armor like the normal Leopard 2A4, but the add on armor helps. Maybe it won’t be fully top tier, but then it can at least help the Oplot form a lineup potentially.
