Why dont we have the ability to toggle what type of guidance our munitions have?
For example if a JDAM has Laser+IOG+GNSS. Why am i pigeon holed into using all three at once? Modern aircraft (ground contollers) can set the type of guidance an ordinance will use and if one form of guidance fails or stops (laser for example) the others should take over.
We should be able to Laser a vehicle, launch/drop ordinance. Turn off the laser, and the GNSS should take over. While this may decrease accuracy, for stationary targets like SPAA.
Or lase one target, cut laser and relase a new target for a new ordinance.
This would make SEAD a viable option to improve team play.
HOWEVER, im very aware of the hate for CAS. I personally love it but the power scale of new SPAA is too much. 3 players can deny a map turn the tide if the team spawn rushes.
Ill argue CAS is the direct counter to spawn camping.
This is how it works currently. There is a setting to disable automatic laser activation. Toggling that will mean that the laser will only come on when you manually tell it too. Meaning the bomb will drop in GNSS. If you lase a target and then switch it off again, the bomb will switch to IOG and doesnt need continuous lasing updates.
They have thus far denied DL for GBUs such as the Paveway IV, which is a shame, that owuld have allowed you to update the GNSS after being dropped, but other than that most of this is already in-game.
What isnt thus far though is
the ability to run multi-mode bombs without a Tpod. Making them pure GNSS (if it has SAL, a tpod is always required)
The ability to select which bomb to update, if you drop multiple, on multiple points using GNSS, then lase a target, if the others are in-range, they will go for the lase target too, rather than only 1 bomb updating (this feature would also be good for the aforementioned DL
