LWS, more armor, DU armor, m829a4, better sights, APU, enhanced tracking, thicker armor plating for the turret, APS, and laser designation for friendly air craft.

A8 also gets LWS, improved armor packs, thicker roof armor, APS, APU (nothing new), new ammo, its said an active drone defense (not specified). At least thats what they said on the rollout event. The one you saw is not final, some things are missing.
From what ive found there is no APU, it was prototyped but never produced on the leopard.

These are two different tanks, latter one no A8.
And whats an APU for you? In my world its an auxiliary power unit. Most tanks have this. That M1 pic loosk more like a wild prototype, rather than anything close to a service unit.

A nice tldr
APU allows the vehicle to run without the engine, the leopard does not have this ability.

and according to online sources (and iirc some other), the 2A7A1 and 2A8 now have a 20kW APU.
