I play german props in this game mostly and ive seen most german teams not using the 109s correctly or to their fullest potential
so i thought why shouldnt i at least give some advice of how i play them here and of how to play them in general?
Bf-109A (you get it by starting with the german air TT), Bf-109B, Bf-109C:
all of them are pretty much the same. im pretty sure they are all not that great for their br but at the same time nobody is that great at low br so you can defo make them work just by climbing and BnZing.
Bf-109E1/3/4/7/T2:
one of the best 109s in game, having pretty nice turn and climb.
you can make them work by just going suicidal, but if you want a more safe way to play them and the best way to its prob using it for BnZing and energy fights, you can also do stall fights in it but i wouldnt recommend doing it at this low br.
(bonus tip: try using the 20mms only at rlly low range)
Bf-109F1/2:
they are the same fm wise with other guns.
i like the f1 more but the f2 is also pretty busted.
just abuse your speed and climb in them by doing energy traps and BnZing.
DO NOT TRY TO DOGFIGHT PEOPLE IN THEM.
(bonus tip: while the f1 might be .3 lower the f2 has the far superrior gun and got 200 shots instead of 60)
Bf-109F4:
this is prob one of the more balanced 109s and defo my fav.
it has above average climb
okay turn, okay ripspeed and kinda low speed at the deck.
you should try climbing into the match with wep (i use 100%rads 60% prop pitch but there might be better mec settings)(at least try climbing into the match with wep during the event grind season).
your overheat is pretty bad so i suggest using it for dogfights and climb only.
being below stuff like spitfires and a6ms is mostly a death sentence so try to avoid being in this position.you can avoid this position by climbing and then working your way from top to bottom.
i mostly suggest energy fights, stall fights and BnZ (for bnz i recommend using the prop pitch airbrake trick), but this doesnt mean you cant use the f4 as a dogfighter, its indeed a pretty good one as long as you dont face dedicated turnfighters. in a dogfight id suggest doing rolling scissors and scissor fights in general(try using the prop pitch airbrake trick in those fights). rate fights can work at high alt to but dont expect to much in a horizontal rate.
DO NOT GO 100% VERTICAL IN THE RATE AS THIS IS NEARLY ALL THE TIME A DEATH SENTENCE. instead when rating try going in a upwards spiral or a more diagonal approach (idk how to call it).
for rolling in dogfights i suggest doing snap rolls by using the rudder all the time, they might feel wierd when you start but youll get used to it.
the f4 also has a very good stall and great stall control so you can try using this to win some fights or to hammerhead somebody.
in most dogfight scenarios the 109f4 does benefit from going up.(dont do it when using the airbrake for obv reasons)
(bonus tip nr1: the prop pitch trick does break more when you are at 60% throttle.
bonus tip nr2: against yak3s id suggest going down in a scissor fight cuz of the yaks superrior MER)
Bf-109G2:
nearly everything i said for the f4 also applies to thise 109 but you have to mind that you are a noticaly bit worse turning and a little bit slower.
id just suggest not playing this 109
Bf-109G6:
this 109 has great climb and below average turn.
i do not suggest taking dogfights in it unless you have to. when you have to try going into a rolling scissors with the airbrake while going down.
use 20minutes of fuel with auto prop pitch and 40% rads to not overheat.
use wep in the climb.
you can use wep all the time but be aware of it doubling your fuel burn.
this plane is mostly BnZ and energy fights/traps.
same thing here as for the f4, try working your way from top to bottom.
if you see a yak3 try getting it to high alts where you at least have some big advantages above it and try energy trapping or BnZing it then.
(bonus tip: run stealth in the 20mm and IAI in the 13mm for the best dmg)
Bf-109G14:
this is a g6 at 5.3 just avoid playing it
(bonus tip: when you play it try playing it exactly like the g6 but keep in mind that youll only face props with better engines than you)
Bf-109K4:
this thing has great climb, meh turn and bad top speed at the deck.
you have great retention and okay high speed turn so i suggest using them while BnZing.
for climbing i use 20minutes fuel 20% rads and auto prop pitch.
you can wep all the game but be aware of the crazy bad fuel burn.
if you rlly want to dogfight people i suggest doing one high speed turn and then leaving the fight to regain energy to do it again if you missed or to try getting a follow up if you have a realistic chance.
you can also try fighting at low speeds cuz of your engine but mostly only on high alt.
i suggest avoiding most dogfights tho.
(bonus tip: at high alts if played correctly you can even bit some spits (not the lf mk9 tho) in a dogfight)
Bf-109G10:
this 109 has crazy good super high alt performance, below average climb, lower fuel burn on wep than the k4, worse turn than the k4 and better low speed control than the k4.
you mostly try the same thing in this thing as in the k4 but now you can climb with only 10% rads open.
(bonus tip fact: some players prefer this thing over the k4 in dogfights due to it reacting quicker at low speeds but in a normal arb match i dont think its worth using)
so i think this should be all 109s that exist
i hope this will maybe one day help somebody get better at the game
