I Have the AH-64 In my GRB Lineup, But i cant get a single kill, theres always that 2s38 that kills me, wether it is from ATGM range or at the battlefield, i really would appreciate help!
if you have the hellfires unlocked you can just stay at around 7km of range and fire them off.
You have a stabilised sight with TVD so you can put yourself in a bit of sideways velocity while you maintain painting the target with the laser.
Alternatively you can take 12 hellfires and 1 APKWS rocket pod (its faster speed will mean u can take out AA and light tanks such as the 2S38 faster (and give them less time on you))
As for that pesky 2S38, move your zoom control to your scroll wheel and dont use the button. this way you can use the zoom to survey more chunks of the battle field and can spot AA fire coming at you.
IRL im sure the 2S38 operates with some sort of laser or radar ranging, but in game that isnt modelled hence you dont get any lock/paint warning
Thanks, ill tray that :)
oh and dont hover
Hi,
the most important thing in a helicopter is to stay hidden and stealthy. Use trees and other vegetation to show as little of the helicopter as possible. Try to even adjust your surroundings to the colour of your helicopter. That way most people will not always notice you even from shorter distance.
As for the Hellfires you need to find out how they work.
This is a link to the article about AGM-114B Hellfire on the old WT Wiki that is quite good: AGM-114B Hellfire - War Thunder Wiki (the old Wiki will soon be unaccessible). You find instructions on how to use them in the ‘‘General info’’ section.
Regarding the 2S38: It has a LWS so if you point your laser designator on a Derivaciya-PVO it will get a message. To deal with it you need to turn off automatic laser designation (in the aircraft (not helicopter) settings) and assign a key for turning the laser designator on/off. In battle, fire the Hellfire in an approximate direction of the 2S38 without laser designator and turn it on in between 6-8sec before the missile hits. That way you minimise the 2S38s exposure to your laser and give him less time to react.
It takes definitely time to practice finding good positions and using the laser designator but it is definitely worth it. I hope I could help you!
