I’m trying to figure out how much I should have, of course I could go through trial and error but im a bit lazy, and this could help other people too.
Depends on the BR of the match to be honest. If you won’t be facing many radar missiles go mostly flares. At top tier you want more than just a couple drops of chaff.
Also plane/playstyle, a dogfighter that will stay close to the MP alt entire game doesnt need as much flares as missile bus slinging missiles from long range.
1:2 flares to chaff for top tier
As you get lower and less radar missiles gradually over to mostly flares instead
What aircraft or BR range?
How do you play said aircraft? (offensively or defensively)
What seems to usually kill you?
How good are you at notching, terrain masking, kinematically defeating missiles, etc etc
to those who have asked, I’m trying to use the F-8E as a fighter, I’m not too good at those techniques for avoiding missiles cause I’ve only just got to this BR
At 10.7, SARH threats are not quite as common, though they do exists, as you get to 11.0+ you will begin to face far far more. As a result of this, I would weight my CM loadout more heavily towards flares than chaff at 10.7. Many of the radars you will encounter (not all, but most) will be heavily affected by ground clutter, and so flying low will keep you reasonably safe from a lot of threats that would require chaff and if/when you are higher and attacked by an SARH missile, you shouldnt need loads of chaff to defeat the threat.
In other 10.7s I play (I dont have any experience with the F-8E specifically) I’d run around 40-50 flares and the rest chaff, though ensure you have keybinds set up to deploy them individually, otherwise you might as well just run pure flares or 50/50.
