I’d be in support of more ranks if the rank penalties weren’t so harsh for researching out of +/- 1 rank.

I grind using tech tree vehicles, which are better than premiums anyway.
I support rank 9.
If it gets people to play a variety of vehicles, I’m all for it.

Ok so?? Just buy the new Rank 8 premiums that are gonna come. Easy as that.
You cant expect a game to stop adding content just to wait for YOU to finish grinding rank 8.

definitely should say no to adding rank 8 premiums as we dont need infiinte noobs at every br just stop at a point and allow higher research rank efficiency for end of the line premiums

I don’t have a problem with adding Rank IX, I have a problem with them doing it before patching everything else up first. I am more than willing to see 2026 be Big Refactor Year.

The bigger problem here is the extremely fast technology advancement cycle Gaijin is doing. Tiers and research bonuses are more of a symptom than the actual problem. It wasn’t long after ARHs were added in June 2024 (Seek and Destroy update) that Eurofighter and Rafael were added (Dec 2024, Storm Warning).
Sure, it’s been a year at this point, but ARHs are still massively underperforming in power/range across the board (with exception of AIM-120A and B). Countless historical accuracy bugs are unfixed and countless munitions are missing. Gamemodes are neglected, especially Air Simulator. And perhaps most importantly, there are many iconic aircraft missing, this is most noticeable starting at BR 10.0.

Gonna sneak this in here but anyhow. Im pretty sure more ranks would be better for the game sense it does reduce RP cost for lower planes and expands the amount of space for vehicles we could get.
Ngl, should probably be at rank 10 for current planes with rank 11 being pure 5th gens. (Along with br going up to lets say 18.0 ish just to even out the lower tiers as well.)
And Hopefully No rank 9 prems to sour the top tier for a bit

People will pay for a premium if they want to, but you also don’t have to buy a premium or just wait for a sale and you could always do it the old fashioned way the previous vehicle or br line in a tt will always still provide a 100% efficiency gain for research.
New vehicle lines are fine the more the merrier

Ranks are a made up concept to make you grind vehicles you don’t want to.

This. They represent nothing. Not a BR spread, not a technical advancements or introduction dates.
They are there to slow down the grind and to force you to buy premium, do the events, or grind a TT branch you wouldnt touch just to satisfy the required number of vehicles to proceed to the next rank.

I don’t think t9 will be gen 5s. Most likely they will take all gen 4,5 and rebalance the BRs.
They are many gen 4,5 to add for 2 updates ( given that they realease a plane for half the nations in an update) and the next after adding things is usually a balancing patch of some kind.
I wouldn’t bet gen 5s before summer.
Add the fact that gen 4,5 (And even 4s) have many technologies to demonstrate before going to gen 5.
Sensor fusion, stealth or low RCs … those are standard before going to gen 5.
And i believe the Aerial warfare mode will come before gen 5 as well , because they’ll need a base to add them in the game… current RB with markers etc. isn’t really the place .
Tier 9 implementation won’t be bad , if they not bring gen 5.
And about the grind, when they do such things, they reduce the RP needed of the previous tiers. If anything people that want to play modern jets (not top tier only) will grind faster if for example everything before MiG 29 needs half the grind.
Now to get to Su-30SM, you need 1,230,000 RP ONLY in the t8. You need another 1,3-1,4 mill in t7…

And imagine i’m of the people that heavily disagree with how GJ thinks about gameplay…
But let’s be real now, i don’t think t9 would be bad…it’s just that some people assume it will be gen 5s.
You should start worrying about gen 5s when you see Su-35S/SM , F-15EX /18E BLKIII , Rafale f4.1/2 (Yes there are more of them) , F-16V and PoBIT , J-16, MiG-35s… + whatever weapons and avionics’ factions we are missing.

Well since rank IX could potencially mean a reduction of rp and sl to the lower ranks i am all for it, personally premiums vehicles’s rank dont really affect me.

If they do like they have always done lower ranks’s research cost are reduced as well, the rank 8 would be reduced to the cost of rank 7, the lower ones are also reduced, keep in mind that rank 5 vehicles used to cost 380k research back when they where “top” tier
