So, I noticed a while ago that the Tiger E / Tigris / Heavy Tank No.6 do not have the same armor values on their turret roofs.
The German Tiger E has 40mm, while the Hungarian Tigris and the Japanese Heavy Tank No.6 both only have 25mm roof armor, just like on the earlier H1 variants.
I could see the Japanese variant having different characteristics as it is visibly an earlier model (still includes H1 parts here and there). However, the Hungarian Tigris is supposed to be a late Tiger E variant, no? Perhaps the Tiger E in the German tech tree is meant to represent an even later variant compared to the Tigris, (if such an advanced variant even existed)?
Is this an incorrectness in the game or is there some actual historical reasoning behind it?
“Like the hull roof, the turret roof was also 25mm thick but with a leading edge 40mm thick. By September 1943, the 25mm thick turret roof was seen as insufficient as artillery fire and fire from ground-attack aircraft could penetrate it. It was therefore replaced from March 1944 onwards with a uniform thickness of 40mm (a British report examining one knocked out Tiger in May 1944 found the roof to be 45mm thick). Vehicles refurbished after this date were to be retrofitted to this standard.”
“From March 1944 on, the 25 mm roof plate was increased to 40 mm, to prevent penetration by large caliber artillery shells (over 150 mm), and the loader’s hatch originally designed for the Tiger II turret was installed in the thicker turret roof.”
It literally states that the Tiger II’s loader’s hatch was installed on Tiger I along with the thicker roof armor.
What is your source btw? So that we can see as well.
Will you provide any proofs to your statements? Like at least one? Of course you wouldn’t. Because you don’t have them + reading seems to be one of your multiple weaknesses…
The question is: When they expected 40mm armor to protect from 150mm artillery shells, I’d like to asky why these shell are far more powerful ingame. Any vehicle with that amount of armor would be insta killed in WT.
