Tiger series overmobility

As it stands, while the Tiger 2 series isn’t the worst tank series of its BR, it’s not the best either. Competitors such as the T26E5 are significantly better armored and retain superior mobility.

I’m not entirely sure what kind of balance changes would resolve this issue, but I’d hate to see another IS-2 or Jumbo 76 situation occur which renders the vehicle unplayable compared to its competitors.

honestly nah
Tigers isnt very jolly good, their speed helps them quite alot, nerfing them to T34 ish speed would make them less effective

its not historical if they ever drove around with an ungoverned engine. Unless gaijin specifies the date of the tank somehow.

Especially because there are german sources for 45km/h, 700ps and 3000rpm on tigers

jumbo would need to go down then
theres no way it should face Tiger II, or Tiger II(H) atleast

Jumbo already faces Tiger IIs in uptier and a mobility nerf would mean they’d become easier to counter. This doesn’t justify a BR decrease for Jumbo at all.

The M4A2 (76) W, T1E1, and M36 at 5.3 are where you should be concerned for a potential Tiger II BR decrease, though BR decompression around 6.7-7.7 would probably be a better solution.

the whole ground BR should get decompression anyways
if anything decompression would mean that the Tigers would face equally/better armed opponents that can pen/disable it
Mobility nerf would be quite substaintial

Also i think for most tanks ingame are based on perfect condition stats so they dont need governed speed to be stable, afaik governed speed on those things are mainly for engine to not catch on fire or for the transmission to not kaput, which in WT isnt a problem so no need to governed

The Tiger E depicted in game is a late model, and the Tiger driver’s handbook dated May 1944 confirms 600 ps @ 2500 rpm.

Governed engine speeds are used in game, this is policy item and has already been applied to the Panther series.

For the Tiger E the mobility nerf would mostly impact just the high end and top speed, as it roughly represents a 14% reduction in engine power in return for 17% earlier power delivery. I actually expect more responsive/faster low and mid-range acceleration.

well then

now you just need to prove this applies to the tiger e ingame right? Because the new Laufrollen were issued starting in february 1944…

And the Zimmerit application started in late 1943, and the governors were fitted in late 1943…

There are people out there who know far more than me about this vehicle, but it does appear to be a 1944 example. Whether that means it’s a 1944-built vehicle is different, but by this point the engine governor should have been fitted.

Or give ground vehichles a motor overheat mechanic just like the planes, and give us the engine govermor as a researchable modification.
This way if somone want to use they mobility on full extent they can do it, but they can’t abuse it too much. And If you don’t want to micro-manage your engine in the battle, you can just install the modification.
Maybe it could even catch fire, so the punishment wouldn’t be just a 30 sec repair, but using up one of your FPE as well.

7.0s, actually. Tiger E is forced to face 7.0s. xD.

I would gladly take this engine nerf… IF it went back to 5.7 where it belongs along with the rest of the Tigers. Since apparently the extra HP it currently has is what warrants it to face 7.0s.

It’s a mechanical governor right?
Where is it mounted on the engine block?
Just curious )))

A centrifugal governor (Fliehkraftregler) located on the coolant pump drive, controlling butterfly valves in the intake manifold and depressurising the carburettor control box (Steuerkasten).

  1. At 800-2000 rpm the first carb butterfly is open under the driver’s control, the increased rpm partially opens the first control slide inside the carb control box and allows pressurised (7 Atü) oil to flow up to the second control slide.

  2. At 2000-2500 rpm the second control slide is opened by the driver, allowing pressurised oil to compress the compression spring, which fully opens the second carb butterfly.

  3. After 2500 rpm the governor begins to restrict air intake by closing the intake manifold butterfly valves, and pulling the first control slide to its second position, which depressurises the compression spring and returns the second carb butterfly to the closed position. Depressurised (1 Atü) oil is returned to the engine oil filter.

“GOVERNOR
In each inlet manifold a longitudinal shaft controlled by the engine governor carries a butterfly opposite each carburettor butterfly, thus completely overriding the driver. The governor is of the centrifugal type driven from the timing gears and incorporated in the drive to the water pump. The inlet manifolds have drain holes to deal with excess wet fuel.”

Is it historic? Well, that’s it, gaijin, what are you waiting for to implement it?

The US T34? That is significantly more mobile than any Tiger 2

here to back my brotha Rulan up.

all the people that are against this because it nerfs it, I tap the sign.

your favourite vehicles deserve realistic representation, not a history channel at 2am representation.

Won’t happen, Gaijin does not rely on historical data for mobility, penetration and protection. Its all simulated in a way to make it consistent and easy to implement with minimal research while still "feeling’’ realistic. Penetration is based on formulas, top speed is based on theoretical maximum, maneuverability is simulated estimates and armor, even simple steel non compost does not behave at all like armor does irl and even things like how angling interacts with AP rounds is very simplified to the point were it doesn’t resemble reality much.

This game is the epitome of history channel at 2 am representation

Mfw when Gripen has Mav Gs.
Mfw when idk Soyuz.
Idk I only remember these ones.
Oh ye and maybe period correct armaments and mixing block numbers on like half of the jets in game.
This is legit just nitpicking but there’s a bunch of stuff that hella veers off that path.
You can tap the sign as much as you want but it isnt going to change Sh*z
