Tiger king weaksauce

the king tiger is probably the most historically inaccurate tank in this game and its not even close

people forget that the king tiger hull was literally never penetrated from the front in actual combat. there are no confirmed cases of a frontal hull penetration so obviously the armor worked exactly as intended. wtf is a m51 doing here anyway, and wtf is israel??? thought whole point of a king tiger was so that israel dont exist

also the whole “they broke down all the time” argument is such a meme, every tank breaks down if you drive it around enough. meanwhile people act like the king tiger was personally designed by hitler to explode the second it leaves the garage. even my toyota prius broke down after the service contract ran out

a properly crewed king tiger could 1v5 shermans and realistically win, the shermans would just have to keep shooting it until they run out of ammunition while the 88 deletes them one by one. 5 shermans vs one tiger 2 sounds fair until you remember the tiger has a giant gun and actual german optics

wtf is a bmp1 doing in a fight with a king tiger??? this thing shows up with a 73mm and a heat round like its 1967 and apparently thats supposed to be historically accurate. how did a saclos missile time travel to 1945 anyway, did the soviets invent time travel before they invented the bmp1

and an m60??? brother that tank wasnt even a concept when the king tiger was fighting, why is it allowed to shoot at it because some spreadsheet says the matchmaker says so

the 88mm was also way more accurate than people give it credit for. german crews could routinely hit tanks at ranges where allied crews were basically guessing. you cant just give some random tank a laser beam because it technically has a rangefinder and call that balanced

and yes the armor was sloped, which means the actual effective thickness was significantly higher than the raw number. people see 150mm and think “only 150mm” like the angle isnt doing anything

most king tigers that were lost were abandoned because of mechanical problems or lack of fuel, which is completely different from being penetrated in combat. if your tank has to be abandoned because the army has no fuel thats a logistics issue not an armor issue

germany also had to fight basically the entire planet at once while being attacked from every direction with unlimited allied air support and factories spawning shermans like minecraft mobs

the tiger 2 didnt lose because it was a bad tank, it lost because there simply wasnt enough of it

if they had produced 5000 king tigers instead of a bunch of inferior medium tanks the war probably goes very differently

historically accurate king tiger should have extremely high frontal survivability, better accuracy, faster reload, better reverse speed and immunity to anything below 122mm

but instead we get bmp1 heat shells going through the turret like yeah bro historically accurate

it’s not fun would be nice if snail bring back historical battles as toggle option.

it’s really fun to use IS-2 against king tigers and other WWII tank ! cold war tanks just ruin it.

really ?
i think if you have good documents and book try bug report it !

If you have proof then you should try and bug report it here:
https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder

unfortunately Gaijin removed most historical matchmaking (like World War mode) since it was horribly unbalanced in one sides favour.

As of now about the closest you’ll get is Sim ground battles. Where King Tigers will usually go up against mostly IS-1s, IS-2s, and Pershings. Not the HEAT Slingers sitting around 7.3.

wehraboo nonsense

The Tiger 2 was a horrendously bad tank that had something like a 10-20% ready rate at any given point in time. It was entirely a paper Tiger, in the literal sense, that was only scary on paper but never did anything of value

A very common lie.

Panzerfausts

Reportedly impacted by a Soviet 122mm HE explosive on poor armor construction.

Soviet Trophy markings showing an arrow pointing to a frontal penetration. This is not a firing target.

Not an appropriate remark to make on the forums.

Historical myths. Most King Tiger crews were inexperienced and most German crews would bail being hit by several 75mm HE rounds. In one instance, a Sherman tank even rammed a King Tiger, causing the crew to bail. People like you keep claiming German tanks could take this many Shermans at once. Still, in actual combat, Sherman crews generally had more success in armored combat because of their reliability, survivability, and short-stop firing times.

The BMP-1 with SACLOS missiles cannot see the Tiger 2 unless you uptier it.

The King Tiger cannot see the M60 unless you uptier it.

What are you even talking about here?

Angle performance is modeled in War Thunder.

Skill Issue.

It was a bad tank.

I wonder how the German mains would react to actual realism given there where multiple cases of Panthers catching fire and being destroyed just trying to drive them off the train cars, they could theoretically neutral steer but in practice it usually destroyed the transmission, Tiger 2s where documented losing their turrets from non-penetrating hit’s from IS-2s as the sheer explosive mass of the shell was capable of lifting them out of turret ring, (I think they meant it was dislodged an not functional, not lifted clean off the hull, the report also didn’t specify if it was HE or APHE doing it).

It’s honestly wild how little some people understand how fucked the Germans were in WW2. They were losing all of their factories; they had rapidly decreasing fuel supplies; manpower was already limited compared to the US and USSR; and Swedish iron exports were running dry.

You wouldn’t even need to implement that. Just make a Panzer IVJ fight a T32E1 or a Panzer 2 fight a KV-1E.

ahh yes, the country that was notoriously short on metal procurement/production, as well as so short on manpower to the point of sending 12 year olds to combat, in the army, air force, and tanks, “ThEy CoUlD’vE wOn iF tHeY mAdE mOrE HeAvY tANKs” meanwhile the most reliable tanks they had were the Pz.3s and Pz.4s, as the Germans thought just slapping more and more armor and bigger gun was gonna win them the war, stuff like the trasmitions, suspension, engines (among a few others due to poor training) were known to break, or wear down faster than originally expected, similar to how the US put the same V8 engine in the M4A3, M26, and T95, another thing to consider to quality of the metal, of which as shown in pictures of panthers struck with HE of the hull and turret shattering its a safe call to say those weren’t exactly good quality near the end as well, the best course of action Germany could’ve done is invested it into pz 3s, 4s, and early panthers, as well as better gun emplacements for defense, and even then, at most, all Germany could’ve done is prolong the war

We are not doing historical matchmaking in this game dude. Also its uptier thats how it works.

Holy contradiction.

Germany already had issues with fuel, like in the Ardenas, and you ask more heavy fat fuel drinkers?? Also IRL if it gets tracked the tank its done, no way to repair it with only the crew and basic tools, such an expensive toy to go down easily with a mine.

Sounds like you want to be the only one having fun.

Rage bait accepted.

Historical? Sure lets go over that. The Tiger 2 was out outnumbered by the sheer manufacturing power of the US and Russian military industry later in the war. Can’t win a war if 1v5 is actually 1v10 or more and lack of resources. The Tiger 2 also has extremely poor fuel economy making it impractical without solid logistics which Germany didn’t have late war. So even if it we Frontal penetration is one thing getting from point A to Point B is another. Tiger 2 was facing Pershing and superior tanks as Germany crumpled from the head start war economy it had.

You’re playing a video game where the tiger 2 was actually balanced by giving it an artificial advantage of having a 10v10 or more.

It was called king tiger for being the “best tank” against good situations but in war it’s all numbers. In war thunder the tiger 2 and maus are already “historically buffed” by given more than is actually in real life.

Overall, Germany created the Military complex before WW2 even started. Was spoon feed Poland from the Soviet Union and had ALL the resource, financial, and military capabilities that no coutry had and LOST. Tiger King weak sauce is Germany losing 2 world wars from lack of strategy plain and simple.

If you have something you think is wrong about the tiger 2 in a video game sure. But don’t confuse history to something you see playing a video game. Enjoy it and have fun you get to play that artificial relic.

wow

OH BOY HERE WE GO

didnt need to be. the tank was crap and the turret was more than big enough to be hit

Germany lost so there are still jews knocking about.

a prius (while being a really crap car) isnt pulling 70 tons with 600hp. its pulling 1.5 tons with about 100. It literally ate its gearbox and engine to do anything.

A sherman knocked a tiger 2 out by ramming it. so much for build quality.

M60 cant see a tiger 2 (other than CEV but that is a disgusting skill issue if you die to it)

dis u?

cope

It wasnt bad. it was absolute shite.

It does. standard US 90mms cant do anything to you and it takes APDS or just as big canon to punch through the turret face.

skill issue is what id say if you werent talking out of your backside.

You do well in them, stats are public (in game and statshark) so we can just check to see if this pile of tribble is from a “i suck and want tank buffed to carry me” or “i should really just play a single player tank game on tourist mode” perspective.
